Q: I have AOL and every time I try to connect to the iTunes Music Store, I get the message “Make sure your network connection is active and try again.” I can sign on to AOL with no problem and I turned off my firewall. Any ideas?

A: Such network problems often arise, and are always confusing to understand and fix. Even Apple’s support page on the item is rather ambiguous. Regardless, here are our suggestions… we recommend that you try them in order:
- Ensure that you’re using the latest version of iTunes.
- Try Apple’s suggestion to reset your cable/DSL modem.
- Follow the instructions here for debugging a similar issue that Microsoft has found. This is another of Apple’s suggestions.
- Try reinstalling iTunes, even if you were at the latest version in Step 1.
Good luck, and let us know what worked!
