Q: I own an iPod Shuffle, and used to own a 10 GB iPod. I used to create playlists based on when a song was last heard, but since the iPod Shuffle has no internal clock, the last played field is not updated, only the play count.
Is there way to directly modify the last played date in iTunes?

A: Unfortunately, the iPod shuffle does not have a clock chip, so it cannot update this information. If you use a Mac, there is a way: Doug Adams’ New Last Played Date AppleScript lets you adjust the last played date to the current date, or to a number of days before today.
As far as we know, there are no such tools for the Windows version of iTunes, but it may be possible to achieve the same result using Microsoft’s Visual Basic.
