The Complete Guide to iPhone Service Providers

In an effort to help our readers get official, localized information on Apple's next-generation iPhones, which will soon be rolled out across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, we have created a page called The Complete Guide to iPhone Service Providers. For now, our goal is to provide links to local telecom providers, learn whether or not high-speed 3G networking services are available, and also determine whether Apple offers online sales of hardware or iTunes Store content for each country on the list. We will update this list as new carriers are announced.

South Africa currently does not have vodafone as a operator. Vodafone has a 50% share in our Vodacom network - they use vodacom to distribute their services. Please update the South African URL to http://www.vodacom.co.za

Hey guys!
From what I know (and have verified) Austria is exclusively T-moblie territory for the moment.
Cheers.

Orange has claimed Austria is amongst its territories; it appears that a number of companies are either planning expansion or hardware sales in new markets.

Thanks for clarifying. I read that they have claimed so, but no sign as yet. We’ll see what the near future brings, eh?

What about Puerto Rico?
I cannot believe how a country like Dominican Republic can get the iPhone and Puerto Rico (being part of the United States!) does not! How? Why? WHY!? *cries*

It’s wrong about Spain. The spanish provider is Movistar/Telefónica, not Orange.

Please put Pakistan in the list, we’v got one of the fastest frowing mobile sectors in the world with over 20 milion customers. I’m sure with 6 large operators apple can tap on to something and the market is potentially great!

This is the wrong way to launch the iPhone 3G in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong people has long done away with carrier locked mobile phones.
Not sure if the current announced models of iPhone 3G will be attractive enough to cause people to switch to “3” or to commit to a carrier contract.
The trend in Hong Kong is for carrier to no have any contractual commitments.

I don’t think Apple will enter the market in Lebanon. Unless I missed any other country, the biggest surprise is the exclusion of Israel, where there’s a HUGE market for iPhones.

One of the companies that is providing the iPhone 3G to Portugal is Orange, but it was renamed Optimus in our country (don’t know why). Maybe that’s why you didn’t found the correct link to Orange portuguese store, that is: http://www.optimus.pt. You can see a section on the first page related to the iPhone pre-registration. You can also see that the portuguese Apple store allready corrected the inicial error of Orange and is now redirecting to the Optimus website: http://www.apple.com/pt/iphone/buy/

you should add to your list, where the iphone is sold as a prepaid device. i really hope, that many many people will either boycott the iPhone or at least buy the prepaid version on order to use it in the network THEY deserve. customers really have to take their RIGHTS serious and add pressure on apple. exclusive carriers just plain suck - and (as much as i love apple products) companys locking in their customers and not allowing them to choice as well!

Hey guys? I noticed that you are not informed about the countries that will provide 3G . I live in Uruguay and America Mobile has most of the country with 3G coverage. And also The Iphone 3G will be sold by mid July with a 3G plan all together. So please get more info a bout uruguay and correct your table that Uruguay does not have 3G coverage. Thank you.

Also in Paraguay Claro offers 3G coverage, this list is wrong, as Daniel said, most of the southamerican countries where Claro operates have 3G coverage.

In Australia, Virgin Mobile has started to sell the iPhone. They’re a wholly-owned subsidiary of Optus (which is in turn owned by Singtel), but they’re a totally separate brand, so I think they warrant a mention here.
