Switching from MP3 to AAC Without Losing Your Mind

I have windows, and iTunes for Windows, and a LOT of mp3’s but now am starting to get a few files in AAC through iTues. I’m thinking about buying an iPod, but it says that it doesn’t support AAC from windows, is that true? So is there any way to switch from AAC to MP3 if it is?

iPods for Windows: It's a good thing?

no comments actually needed for this article, which hs proved itself terribly wrong. iPod now comes with USB 2.0 and iTunes is avaliable for Windows. “iPod for Windows exists, but real iPod users own a Mac” ?? Oh please, don’t be so colse-minded. I used to salivate for a Mac, but I no longer do. I want to be able to upgrade my PC slowly, without having to buy a whole new machine when some utility gets old. As far as I know, with Macs this is far more expensive (and with less choice) than PCs - if not virtually impossible. I want an iPod (will get mine in a short time) but I would certainly not switch to Mac because of it. I want my PC as well.

Will any MP3 player ever catch Apple's iPod?

It has a 2.5” full-color screen

It plays audio, video, photo.

It has a jogwheel!

It runs on AAs.

It’s $99!

iPod Adventures in the Middle East: Part I

THe Karma is a little over-priced for what you get, but it is small.

However the Zen is better value, and looks classier. Classier even than an iPod!

This becomes moreso after a couple of months when the cheap iPod casing is scratched to shit while my Zen metal still looks pristine!

iPod Adventures in the Middle East: Part I

My 1G 10GB ipod has kept me and my wingman company on many a long night flight over downtown Baghdad and even a trip or two to Afghanistan!  It has seen 130 degree day temps at sea level then gone to 75 degree temps at 12000 foot cabin pressure in just a few minutes….and never even flinched!  The screen is kinda scratched up, and the dust is starting to make the touchwheel feel a little gritty…but it’s the perfect addition to my F-15E!

Audible User's Guide for iPod

Chark,

I had this same problem.  I use EphPod to transfer songs, and apparently there is a driver which the Audible Manger expects to be installed, which is not installed on your machine as an EphPod user.  I downloaded and reinstalled the iPod 1.3 firmware (even though my iPod had this firmware already) and the missing driver was installed on my computer.  Make sure you reboot before running the Audible Manager after this update and you will be good to go.

Will any MP3 player ever catch Apple's iPod?

I just bought the 40 GB iPod and love it!.  I use iTunes with a PC and have not had any problems with this interface.  Can anyone tell me what good service plans are out there in case something goes wrong with my iPod.  The Apple warranty is nice but only one year long.

iPod Adventures in the Middle East: Part I

I live in Iraq and have been using my ipod out here in the middle east since April.  Unfortunately my ipod got so scratched up and so dusty.  Thank goodness for apple quality products.  My ipod has never skipped or failed me.  It has reached about 150o here and now the evenings are very chilly.  All is well. :)

iPods for Windows: It's a good thing?

Apple got smart when they decided to release iPOD for Windows. I bet their sales almost doubled if not tripled. I am enjoying my iPOD very much, and I am a Windows user. I will always be a Windows user, don’t get me wrong I would never kick a Mac out of the garage but it is not practical for me to use a Mac right now. If Apple ever got off their butts and decided to just make an operating system out of the Mac OS, I see them hitting a 30% market share in less then three years. Dual boot a super fast serial PC with a 64 bit processer = best of both worlds!!!

Audible User's Guide for iPod

‘Im getting a runtime error message listing an Abnormal program termination when I try to complete the activation of my iPod with the Audible Manager.  It show the iPod as NOT being connected when it is.

iPod works with musicmatch fine…and I make sure and eject it from Musicmatch and close the program before I try to initialize it with Audible??

Any suggestions?

First Looks: iTrip, iPod Armor & FlipStand

I had a belkin tunecast fm broadcaster and like the iRock, it’s a dongle type thing.  The itrip does not require batteries.

I have to say that the size and power benefits of the itriop make it a lot better than competing products.

I hear that Belkin has a new fm transmitter that has much better fidelity than the itrip.  But it also has a dongle and uses batteries.

Switching from MP3 to AAC Without Losing Your Mind

I keep iTunes & MMJB on my PC, and I just direct both of their music libraries to the same folder location.  For the most part, I like iTunes better, but there have been situations where I’ve opted to go use MMJB for a given situation.  You’ll just have to choose one of them as your default player.
