iPod Adventures in the Middle East: Part I
Stasyna,
I love the war you should really think about getting into it, it’s the newest thing. Kidding, I don’t support war either but I support the troops that have to handle it. Thanks for your response, more pics are to follow.

iPod Adventures in the Middle East: Part I
I’m by Kuwait City. I’ll be going to Lebanon in a month or so. I don’t believe the temperatures over is as extreme as the temp. here in Kuwait, but its has a lot of humidity and I’m sure the temperatures reach 130+ but not as high as 150. Hopefully nothing happens to my iPod… i love my iPod!!

Do you have the updated firmware for your 3rd Gen iPOD? I doubt you do since the photos have to be more than 1 week old ( update came out 3 days ago ). Hard to believe the 30gb worked perfectly, as there are dozens of known bugs.
Great article never the less, i love the photos
btw, i dont support the war, Canada rules!

the heat is different then the cold, so the effects would also be different, dont u think? The temperatures here will rise to around 150 during the summer, I wonder if anything will happen….

I’m surprised the screen didnt go funyn because I know that living in UK when it was a cold day my screens ink ran alittle at the bottom so for a short while it was just blue at the bottom, but sooned returned after I started listening to music and heating the thing up.

My iPod Buying Experience
The iPod is a work of art and I must thank it for revitalising my taste buds in music again. The opening of the iPod box made my head get kinda light headed and I hope that design lecturers are using the iPod and it’s box as examples of awe inspiring design.
I was an ex-dj (Soul, Funk and Jazz) and so have a few thousand vinyl LP’s as well as many CD’s. The iPod allows me to dig deep into my music collection. In addition I am converting my quality vinyl to digital format, which is better than just being sat in the loft gathering dust. Finally the terrific little mp3 sushi app allows me to put together a 2-3 hour show or two for friends over the internet. And guess what it all done on Macs.
by the way whats the best case for it with regard to protection and accessibility?

iPod Adventures in the Middle East: Part I
One would think that iPod would do OK in 130+ degree envrionments. Remember that it uses a hard disk, and if you ever plugged one into a computer for a while, it gets REALLY HOT cause the HD is spinning around, and you know how hot hard disks get. This is internal heat, and it does fine, so it should do just as well when exposed to an external heat source (the warm air).

My iPod Buying Experience
I don’t own an Ipod, but I have heard that they are just about impossible to get off. Maybe some spray paint might help

My iPod Buying Experience
Excuse me, can any one tell me how to clean my iPod with good results? the metalic surface always looks sunscratched I enclosed it in polyurethane custom fit bags for protection and looks and change them every week but these little scratches or plastic spots make sick.

Switching from MP3 to AAC Without Losing Your Mind
Bobba, Please be patient, the big time apple is having with iTunes music Store and iPod for PC will bring them to the PC itunes for sure, if no money for a Mac? I suggest you rip your CD´s to the best MP3 quality then when iTunes for PC arrives just re-rip MP3 to AAC with better quality and small files with iTunes, don´t risk it. There will be time and money for a Mac, Like Fred said, if you get a Mac you won’t regret it. The laptops are especially nice and good values.

iPod Adventures in the Middle East: Part I
I live in Kuwait and I use my iPod in temperatures that are also around 132, maybe even more. I havent experienced a problem, even though I am paranoid something might happen… but since I’ve gotten my 15 gig, 3rd gen. iPod, the weather hasnt had an affect on it…. *knocks on wood*

Will any MP3 player ever catch Apple's iPod?
WOW,
I got to this forum since I usually read forums before deciding on a product. iPod is not different, so I got a pointer from http://www.tomshardware.com saying that this place has been most useful for getting advice, etc.
This forum is special allright! Believe it or not, I haven’s seen such a burst of rudeness in any forum for a long time - actually I’ve NEVER seen, period.
One thing is sure, with so much “help” and “mutual support”, I will look elsewhere.
One last word though. Didn’t you people hear about the simple technique of ignoring flames instead of arguing? With no response, flames fade away and together with them, their posters.
Best of luck, and happy iPodding.
Al

Jzero.
I don’t think it’s ‘########’ If you’ve spent $500 on a mp3 player that holds 20gb worth of music, you don’t just want the play-que. You NEED it. Many people were too tranced by the cosmetics of the ipod to review it properly. Many websites gave the ipod perfect ratings, but somehow missed the lack of the play-que feature. I remember when I got the Nomad Jukebox with 6gb of storage, IT had a play-que feature, and that was almost 3 years ago. I think it’s our right as consumers to have our opinions heard.
And enough with the insults. This purpose of this forum is to share our opinions. Not insults. If you disagree with what someone has said, then challenge him/her with your OPINION. If you was to insult people, then please do it someplace else.

Wishing for a play queue for iPod
Oh man! after reading all about the iPod, you guys tell me that there’s NO play queue on the iPod!?! What the hell! I can’t even arrange my music on the move? Then what’s the iPod for? Is apple gonna make us buy an iBook/Powerbook just to create a new playlist everytime we wanna add music to the playlist? Get us the Play queue now! “On the Go” function is only a cover-up man! It’s not the play queue function…I GET IT! the play queue is reserved for the 4th gen iPod right,APPLE?

Hi
PLEASE can you implement on-the-go playlists. This is a very basic feature and like on the current ipods, should have been a standard feature. I implore you to re-think your current position.

Switching from MP3 to AAC Without Losing Your Mind
None of you guys would not have to re-rip if you had just ripped to 256Kbps MP3 or better in the first place. Many have shown that this is essentially identical in sound quality to CDs. Sure the files are bigger than 128KBps but they’re still a lot smaller than AIFFs. Besides hard drive space and even flash memory is cheap. Time (spent re-ripping) isn’t!! Up your sampling rate now so you won’t have to worry about inevitable codec improvements.

C Kizer -
Your ability to identify the functionality of the hardware inside the different iPods by merely looking at it is staggering. You are certainly the “Rainman” of the electronics world.
“YOUR THE IDIOT” - no my friend, you’re the idiot.

sorry pal, but that update is only for the new ipods. Most of us with the old have to go with 1.3, or if you have windows, 1.2.6
