Instant Expert: Secrets & Features of Apple TV 5.2

I’d love it if Apple would provide access to the “Music” part of the iTunes Store through ATV. On the first gen Apple TV, we really enjoyed being able to purchase songs from our TV, and the ability to drill down into various other songs/albums via the “Viewers Also Purchased” option was a blast. Now that any and all music purchases can be stored in iCloud, it seems to me to be a no-brainer to add this to the interface.

I like to print out a list of all of my music. Under the old Itunes which I had it printed in single space. The new Itunes prints in double space. Is there any way to change that so it will print single space?

Calendar entries disappear after enabling iCloud

Hello, I’m hoping someone can help!  I have an iPhone4 that I accidentally downloaded my old iphone3GS system without backing up info on my iphone4. Is there anyway to retrieve any data,pics, etc… from the iPhone4 system?  I also did not backup any information on the iphone4.  Please let me know as soon as you can.  I mainly would like to have my pictures/video back.  I was going to try restoring the lost data.  Do you know if that will work?

Calendar entries disappear after enabling iCloud

Donna should be made aware that you can still backup an iOs device even though it hasn’t been attached to a computer before.  Simply connect the device to the computer, cancel the warnings about the device not being connected before and DO NOT ERASE the device.  Once the warnings are gone the device should be in the side panel of iTunes and you can select it, right click the mouse and select Back Up from the context menu.  That should be the first step before enabling icloud.

I’m probably one of the oldest (age 66) and least tech-savvy person on this site, but was easily able to download and navigate iTunes 11 within an hour.  I have less than 250 albums but the whole program downloaded and my library was up and ready in 7 minutes (have an old Vista system).  No lost artwork, and though I lamented no Cover Flow, I like that you can size artwork in Artist view and really enlarge it during playback.  It is very fast.  Fortunately, I don’t use the Mini Player or have Playlists…I just keep it to update my two iPods and listen to my library as I’m buying new music.  This is the fifth different iTunes version I’ve worked with and I like it the best.  I’ve found many of the iTunes 10 features imbedded, but I’m doing better using the default features and not go back to sidebars and such.

If I just got my phone replaced, and I want to use it now, but I am not in an area of wifi. Can I set it up as a new phone instead of iCloud or iTunes right now to use it, and then still restore it later from iCloud and/or iTunes?

Disappearing iPhone Calendar events

I stopped syncing my iphone calendar with icloud and started managing multiple calendars on my iphone directly from my PC with Copy-tran Contacts.

I don’t know if this is the cure, but is certainly has averted my appointments from being removed due to some sync for one reason or another.

Has anyone figured out how to change the volume bar when selecting the airplau speakers to use? There is a blue bar that shows 20% full and I can’t get it to adjust.

Editorial: AirPlay Speakers Come Into Their Own, A Year Later

After getting tired of the ugly airport express solution and the mess of wires that go along with this wall-wart, I finally ordered the Philips Fidelio SoundAvia Wireless Speaker for $87. Small speakers like this are good for the kitchen/bathroom/patio and don’t make a huge mess like an airport express would.

Deleting Podcasts from the Podcasts App

This is helpful to delete one’s subscription. HOWEVER, how do I delete individual episodes of podcasts I already listened to? According to my settings, they should be gone because (a) I have listened to them and (b) they are not the 3 most recent episodes. YET, my iPhone is still filled with old episodes of podcasts I have already listened to…months ago.

Any thoughts?

Hello:

I have noticed that when you select the view by artist, in the column on the left displays the disc art work of the artist, however, I could not get to choose the art work you desire, in some cases, despite have multiple artist albums, shows the empty space (the gray box with the musical note inside).

Do you know how to choose the art work you want to display the artist’s column?

Restoring Apps and App folder layouts

I’m going through the laborious process of reinstalling all my apps from the store, as iTunes deleted all the local copies.

I’ve noticed that not all my purchased apps are listed under Purchased. Notably missing are Facebook (although FB messenger & FB Pages apps are there, DropBox, Skype, CamScanner), and of course VLC which is no longer available through the store is completely gone. Thanks Apple!

Restoring Apps from iTunes vs iCloud

I’ve been given a replacement phone by Apple while mine is being serviced, and just discovered the non-app restore “feature”. It’s doubly frustrating as all my 190 apps were on my PC, but they got removed somewhere in the process between sync/backup of old phone and restore to new phone.

There is no guide from Apple as to what to do next, except lurching around from one out of date article to another on the web.

I tried the one app at a time restore from the handset, but found that only 1 in 3 went back to its original folder or screen.

Why the device’s settings backup can’t even remember something as simple as app location, I don’t know.

Manually downloading iTunes Match content on iPad

Have tried deleting music singles and albums from my IPad 1 through main PC ITunes both with tablet attached and then downloaded.  Music still shows up on my tablet.  How do I get rid of it?

The Complete Guide to FaceTime + iMessage: Setup, Use, and Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have an iPhone 4s.  I work in a facility that when indoors no cellular signal is available so I turn off the cell antenna by clicking on “Airplane Mode ON”. The phone then turns off all communications. I then separately enable WiFi and choose the secured WiFi WPA2 channel at work.  I am able to send and receive personal email. Utilize the app. that secures my work email and files.  The one thing I cannot seem to get to work is iMessage.  I would like to be able to iMessage with other people I work with as well as use the WiFi to enable sending texts to parties outside of work. Pandora works on this Secured WiFi network so I see no reason for my texting iMessage feature to be blocked.  I also note that when I try to send a text that the iPhone 4s gives this message, “You must disable airplane mode to send or receive messages”.  I click “CANCEL” rather than “SETTINGS” because WiFi is working, and then type in a recipient and get this message, “Turn Off Airplane Mode or Use Wi-Fi to Send and Receive Messages.  Once i type in a message and click send it almost immediately returns, “NOT DELIVERED” with the red explanation point.

I would really like to have this feature available without the cell antenna working because the cell antenna uses up the battery really quickly when no cell reception is available. 

Please help.

Printing CD Covers and Lists in iTunes

Hello - I printed off a CD jewel cae cover from iTunes a year or so ago.  I upgraded to the latest version for PC a fe wekks ago and now there are no print options and no “Top menu”.  Where is the option to print anything gone ?  Am I doing / have I done something monumenatlly stupid ?!

Find My Friends and Passcodes

Hopefully the iPhones of the future will have a biometric scanner so that it will securely unlock the device and no further passcode will be needed.
