Backstage: iLounge on new servers
Whoa. I hope the site is faster for eveyone. After some technical difficulties with the new server transfer, it looks as though everything is in working order. iLounge is now sitting on three new servers featuring dual Xeon 2.8 Ghz processors with load balancing hardware delegating the heavy traffic. If anybody sees anything strange or is having slow load times, please let me know and I’ll look into to it right away. We hope you enjoy the speed and please accept our apologies for all that slowness. We’ve got lots of new content and features coming up, so the new servers arrived just in time.

page loads are much better now, although the next task should be re-doing the entire site into CSS. the design you have can be easily done with CSS and no tables. should help lower filesizes of pages and increase load speeds a bit more.

sc, you’re absolutey right about changing to CSS… I’ve thought about that in the past and am looking forward to converting to 100% CSS in the near future.

Congrats on the new servers. Nothin’ but warp drive here, when loading pages now!
Love the site.
Are they your own servers, or are you sharing them with other clients? (Being hosted)

New server response times for me are very variable. At best it is scertainly an improvement over the old server. But I also get some very slow loads, and an occasional connection refused.
It seems slowest when loading the home page. Subsequent clicks on links seem to load faster.
While waiting for a page load, a “ping” responds in about 40-60msec., so I believe the bottleneck is the server, not the Internet.
Can you guys get any performance stats from theplanet.com that show what is really happening?
