This future generation ipod model may have a multi - touch screen surface. The system uses a technique called Frustrated Total Internal Reflection (FTIR) to accomplish the tasks. It involves the use of a transparent screen with the images rear-projected onto it. For touch-sensing, a sensor is located behind the screen to detect the user interaction. This enables clean and button free surface specially coated in friction free coating, enabling smooth finger movement and high grade protection from scratches.
