Man Sling for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Man Sling ($25) — yes, that’s the name — is a different way to carry a larger phone, such as an iPhone 6 or an iPhone 6 Plus. Ostensibly made for men who can’t carry an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus in a pocket — or those who simply don’t want to — Man Sling is worn across the shoulder, with the phone resting on the hip. It comes in a variety of designs, ranging from zombies to skulls to just plain black. The shoulder sling is highly customizable in design and size, the latter of which includes options for varying strap length and case compatibility.

Yurbuds Inspire 100/200/300 Sport Earphones

While we rarely review earphones and headphones that cost less than $100 — and never review non-Apple earphones or headphones less than $50 — our new Gear section now gives readers a chance to see some of these inexpensive options. JBL’s Yurbuds brand has introduced a series of new wired sport in-earphones, Inspire 100 ($20), Inspire 200 ($30), and Inspire 300 ($40). There’s also an Inspire 400 set, which we didn’t receive. All of the earphones come with earbuds featuring Yurbuds’ “TwistLock” technology, which the company claims makes the buds comfortable, sweatproof, and allow for ambient sound. They’re also “guaranteed never to fall out.” The Inspire series comes in a black-on-black or black-on-red color scheme.

Rickshaw Bagworks Sutro Backpack + Zero Messenger Bag

Rickshaw Bagworks has introduced a new custom fabric, Reflective Tweed, which the company has added to its bags in a new collection. We recently received new versions of the company’s Sutro Backpack ($279-$379) and Medium Zero Messenger Bag ($179-$259) featuring the fabric. Reflective Tweed is an American-made fabric on Rickshaw’s American-made bags — it’s made from polyester and 3M Scotchlite reflective yarn. Rickshaw raised more than $81,000 on Kickstarter to develop the fabric bags. Sutro costs $279 for the striped version of the pack and $379 for a solid version. The striped-solid difference also explains the pricing on the Medium Zero Messenger Bag; there’s also a Large, Small, and Mini Zero Messenger bag using the fabric, as well as a Hip Pack. Sutro Backpack can carry up to a 15” MacBook, while Medium Zero Messenger Bag — which can be bolstered with separate accessories including a laptop sleeve and zipper pocket — can easily handle a 13” MacBook.

PowerSkin PowerStand Boost

PowerSkin’s PowerStand Boost ($25) is a tiny 2600 mAh battery pack. PowerStand Boost has a small built-in rubber mat, which can be unrolled and used as a viewing stand for an iPhone. While we found it had no problems holding up an iPhone 6, an iPhone 6 Plus proved too big for the stand. PowerStand Boost’s battery capacity should also deliver a full charge to an iPhone 6. PowerSkin’s small cylindrical charger includes both a 1A USB output and 1A micro-USB input, and a very short micro-USB cable is included for charging.
