Apple’s updated 12” MacBook is a mostly minor tweak to last year’s offering, adding newer processors and an improved battery to the existing slim design. Apple touts upgraded sixth‑generation dual-core Intel processors, but like the fifth-generation found in the previous MacBook they are still listed as 1.1 GHz and 1.2 GHz, depending on the model.
The laptop is the same weight, thickness and general design found in the previous model, but it’s now also available in rose gold.
New integrated graphics speed things up by about 25 percent, and an improved battery tacks another hour onto Apple’s battery life estimates for the laptop, now at 10 hours for web browsing and 11 hours of iTunes movie playback.
The updated MacBook is priced the same as the one before, $1,299 for a 1.1GHz dual-core 256GB SSD model, or $1,599 for the 1.2GHz version with a 512GB SSD. Both models still feature 8GB of RAM.
