Blackbox Bamboo Cases
Blackbox is yet another example of a company with a cool idea that depended on crowd-sourced funding from Kickstarter, winding up with lots of public support for its Bamboo Cases ($109-$139). Available in custom sizes for all of the machines in Apple’s current notebook lineup, these beautiful, handmade wooden sleeves are sure to attract attention while keeping your computer safe.
Each case is available in either a natural or carbonized brown finish—they both look great, but we prefer the latter. The inside is lined with soft, wool felt padding to keep the aluminum of your machine from getting scratched up, and your Mac is held in place by a leather strap that snaps on to the front. Word of warning: if you order one, don’t expect the case in your hands immediately. The company has been so inundated with orders that it’s warning of a four to six week wait.
