Pushbullet Pushbullet for Mac

The Handoff and Continuity features in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are a really handy addition to improving inter-device workflows, but the features are still somewhat limited to Apple’s own technologies and pairings of third-party apps specifically designed to support the features. For those looking for something that goes a bit beyond, there’s Pushbullet (free), a pair of iOS and Mac apps that provide many of the missing pieces for sharing data between your Mac and your iOS devices.

While the Pushbullet iOS app has been out for almost a year now, it’s this week’s release of the Mac app that really brings the solution into its own. Combined with a nice iOS 8 flavored update, the Pushbullet solution allows for seamless universal sharing of clipboards between your iPhone/iPad and your Mac, allowing you to easily copy text on one device and paste it on another. An iOS 8 Share Sheet lets you easily send just about anything that you can share over to Pushbullet on your Mac. Perhaps the coolest feature of all is that you can now see all of the notifications for your iOS device right on your Mac, eliminating the need to reach for your iPhone every time it beeps or buzzes.
