Hopefully this will address the many problems with 3.0 and not just add new “features” (and break other things). My fear is that 3.1 was planned awhile ago and the rash of 3.0 bugs aren’t scheduled to be addressed until 3.1.1 ...

Well, considering that many of the “features” that are turning up in 3.1 are really things that should have been there in 3.0, this really does in some ways appear to be a maintenance release.  For instance, I consider things like the lack of voice control over Bluetooth in 3.0 to be more of a bug that a missing feature.

Other things, like the anti-phishing filters clearly appeared to be present in earlier pre-3.0 betas, but for some reason were pulled from the final release, only to reappear in the 3.1 beta.

Basically, I suspect 3.1 is Apple tying off all of the loose ends of things that they couldn’t get working in time for the big 3.0 launch, which hopefully should include fixes for some of the smaller glitches as well.

Hopefully the “smaller glitches” includes the wifi problems with iPod Touches.

Hopefully it will include the ability to skip over to the next/previous song via bluetooth stereo headset.

Actually, the OS 3.1 update has given me and a lot of other friends & developers a lot of crash, loss of speed, severe cuts in battery life & messed up iPod sub video library listings. I hope they issue 3.1.1 very soon. Has anyone else experienced these types of problems?  By the way, this is foe iPhone 3G not 3Gs
