Buyers’ Guide Countdown Contest: Win a new iPod! - Winners Announced
By Dennis Lloyd | 10.10.06

image

Winners have been announced in the 2007 iPod Buyers’ Guide

The theme - iPod Colors - is simple. Apple has released the new iPod nano in six* colors - red, silver, pink, green, blue, and black. And of course, standard full-sized iPods come in white or black. Take a picture of any iPod - old or new - against an interesting background that emphasizes one of those colors. For example, you can have a white iPod on a pink background, a pink iPod on a silver background, or a black iPod on a black background - as long as the background is silver, red, pink, green, blue, black, or white, you’re set.

We will pick three total winners - two iLounge editor favorites, and one at random from all entries that have been voted upon by 5 or more users by October 31, 2006.

By Tasker gang on 10.10.06 at 08:47 PM

can the background involve multiple colors?

By topherburk on 10.11.06 at 09:30 AM

’emphasizes one of those colors.’ I think not.  I’ll just take a load of random ones over the next couple of days and pick the best.

Look forward to seeing everybody’s pictures!

By _Ethan on 10.11.06 at 09:55 AM

Sprint: Cropping is always allowed.

Topher: It can, but one color (from the list above) needs to be emphasized in the photo. People who don’t follow that rule will lose.

By Jeremy Horwitz on 10.11.06 at 01:34 PM

is there a maximum on the size of the picture because i am having problems uploading my picture (its a fairly big picture)

By cgoodwin on 10.11.06 at 06:11 PM

is it considered photoshopping to blur the serial number?

By anonymous on 10.12.06 at 02:11 PM

When i try to upload a photo it says “No picture was uploaded !

If you have really selected a picture to upload, check that the server allows file uploads...”

Please help me, what am i doing wrong? The pic is a jpeg image. Resolution 1800x3000

By Marek on 10.12.06 at 02:58 PM

Marek, I had the same problem, Just make the picture 150kb or less.

By ZachNano on 10.12.06 at 03:20 PM

Thanks Zack :D

By Marek on 10.12.06 at 05:48 PM

What if I throw a brown Zune in my toilet?  Do I win anything for that?

By Ben on 10.12.06 at 07:53 PM

You can send higher-resolution versions of your pictures to . Just make sure you send the lower-res one to our gallery, with 150k file size. Blurring the serial is OK.

Please note: we are adding red as a background color based on Apple’s introduction of the new (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition iPod nano.

By Jeremy Horwitz on 10.13.06 at 07:20 AM

I attached high-res versions of my photos to the email I sent for each photo (with the file name and stuff). That OK? Thanks.

PS Great contest!

By Graeme Smith on 10.13.06 at 11:29 AM

Is adjusting curves in photoshop allowed?

By Masafi on 10.14.06 at 05:56 AM

Oops, I just noticed you said to email high-res photos to not . Sorry I sent them to the wrong place…

By Graeme Smith on 10.14.06 at 10:32 AM

Since yesterday, i’ve been trying to upload pictures to the gallery, but it keeps giving me an error. I’m going to send my pictures (640x480) to ‘contest@ilounge.com’ instead. i hope that’s ok.

By Andres on 10.14.06 at 10:37 AM

(in a whiny voice) why o why do i have to be 18 to enter… im just a year off… can i still submit a picture anyway?

By ikim1213 on 10.14.06 at 02:58 PM

So do you send the high res photos to or ?

By rryu0212 on 10.14.06 at 06:57 PM

The “IMPORTANT FOR CONTEST
Click here after submitting your photo and send us an email.” link sends to , but Jeremy Horwitz stated the other

By rryu0212 on 10.14.06 at 06:58 PM

Do we send the full size hi res photo straightaway or wait till they actually ask us to?

By Masafi on 10.14.06 at 07:52 PM

Andres, you’re probably over the 150k limit for photos.  If you can, compress it more.

ikim1213, it’s a legal prerogative.  Get a relative to enter if one’s availible and willing.

By _Ethan on 10.15.06 at 12:42 AM

I like how pics don’t have to be rated high to win the third prize. Just plain voted on haha.

That said, vote for me. = P Mine are the 3 most recent(ish) ones (all black and white) of iPod and bass, iPod and Fender amp, and my dog Missy rockin out (which some doucher voted as 0 haha).

By Aaron Walker on 10.16.06 at 06:11 PM

ow man!! u have to b 18 years or older?!?! im only 14 and i want to do it!!

By dean on 10.17.06 at 11:23 AM

if you win third prize could you get the (product) red nano?

By Broken1GNanoScreen 8( on 10.19.06 at 07:10 PM

Well, i posted p photograph, but the image in the gallery is very low quality. You have to click on it to see it in full resolution. That kind of dissapoints me, i hope that the editors will look at the high resolution images while choosing the winners. Btw, great contest.

By Marek on 10.20.06 at 06:37 PM

GRRRRRRR!

I worked all evening on 2 shots, tried to submit and all I got were 11th hour errors!!!!!
Now I’m totally SOL

By silas on 10.28.06 at 12:09 AM

Contest closeddddddd crappppp.

By Aaron Walker on 10.28.06 at 02:16 PM

I think I uploaded my second one to the wrong gallery… ah well, at least everybody can see it.

By _Ethan on 10.29.06 at 05:10 AM

For future contests, where photos are involved, they should be due at a certain date and then once that date is here, then open them up to be voted on. That way...everyone has a good chance at getting votes, not just from being the first several submitted.

By jerneedog on 10.31.06 at 02:32 PM

Congrats to the other winners and thanks iLounge for another awesome contest! wink
