It’s a speaker. A wireless speaker that can roll…

By miko on 07.25.05 at 01:34 PM

it’s a suction cup to put your ipod anywhere and listen to it with an external speaker or something…

By goober on 07.25.05 at 01:48 PM

Says it’s a toy. I’m guessing it responds to music in some way. Fun, rather than functional.

By mattwardfh on 07.25.05 at 01:52 PM

It’s a floor polish and a dessert topping!

By jonyem on 07.25.05 at 01:52 PM

they appear to be chairs to me, white plastic chairs.

Or maybe some sort of suction cup thingy.

-Brian

By Brian Kaempen on 07.25.05 at 01:56 PM

it’s a cute dancing alien. you put your iPod in and it wiggles about to the music...like those accursed dancing Santas you see around Christmastime.

By daVid on 07.25.05 at 02:05 PM

Is “it” a two-wheeled stand-up auto-balancing scooter controlled by leaning that will “change human transportation forever?”

Wait… wrong inventor.

I have no clue… yet.

By Jerrod H. on 07.25.05 at 02:14 PM

My guess that it is a wireless speaker system for the ipod, or other music source as stated in the article, which synchronizes movement according to the flow and type of the music.
The movement happens with the legs of the product near the top.
The bottom part of the legs are created of what appears to be suction cups, which allow for easy placement on diffrent surfaces without having it fall over.
I am pretty sure there will also be synchronizing lights on the product it self, which also will adjust to the music being played.

The structure seems to be of some creature of some sort, because according to the shadow in the digitalized picture of it, it seems that it has two parts of some sort that hang out, might be where the sound comes out, or just for decoration(ex. eyes, lights..)

-Anton

By Anton Jancin on 07.25.05 at 02:15 PM

Appears to have some functionality like a Sony Aibo - a robotic pet/toy that responds to its surroundings, perhaps, in this case to the music. This may be very similar to audiocubes’ idog that is available in very limited quantities. Honestly, if this is something like an Aibo for my iPod, I would love it.

By Ryan on 07.25.05 at 02:27 PM

A walking talking iPod docking extreme sound buzzing musical entertainer.

Iggy smile

By TheIguana on 07.25.05 at 04:09 PM

It’s a video iPod.

By Likelife on 07.25.05 at 04:54 PM

From the shadows produced by it, it looks like a round object with three protrusions at the top, supported by two struts. The struts appear to be able to rotate or move at the socket. It’s round pod-like body is a dark blue, shiny material, which I think may or may not be translucent.

My guess is that it’s a toy that moves to the beat of your iPod, like a visualizer but… physical. The iPod probably docks into the main body somewhere, and speaker projections are on the top.

By Taylor on 07.25.05 at 06:11 PM

it’s a stand/combo alarm clock.

By Kip on 07.25.05 at 06:32 PM

Is it a fat Hawaiian musician? I’m pretty sure it is…

By Elliott Scott on 07.26.05 at 01:05 AM

It’s a speaker you plug in via the headphone jack that undulates and gyrates to the music as it’s playing from your iPod.

By Lily-pad on 07.26.05 at 01:06 AM

Its a baby bouncer

By Bob on 07.26.05 at 01:27 AM

Elliott Scott: “Is it a fat Hawaiian musician? I’m pretty sure it is…”

This is the best post so far, very funny…
LOL… Love IZ…

By william negris rezende on 07.26.05 at 05:19 AM

Its easy - in ipod robot - move to the music sound and dance

By LinkTree on 07.26.05 at 05:59 AM

Its an all singing all dancing ipod entertainer .

By Nicki J on 07.26.05 at 07:16 AM

I don’t know what that thing is?
But I do know that the people that invented it aren’t being paid enough!

By Zorman on 07.26.05 at 08:36 AM

It’z alive!!

By Pablo on 07.26.05 at 09:24 AM

It’s a sort of iPod dock/speakers/spaceship/alien thing—you put your iPod right inside of it so it is totally enclosed. In response to the music, it lights up and moves around. But it’s gotta be cordless—so it has a rechargeable battery in it.

By Tracy on 07.26.05 at 10:34 AM

It’s the new singing Roomba!

By Tom on 07.26.05 at 12:28 PM

i think its a webcam with iPod connectivity

By Tel on 07.26.05 at 12:58 PM

It iZ an alien lifeform from outer space. It’s torso encases an iPod. Nothing more, nothing less.

By Jean-Jacques on 07.26.05 at 01:35 PM

I believe iZ exactly what iZ says it iZ.

By LX on 07.26.05 at 01:47 PM

It’s a music player case, shaped like some sort of space alien, fully poseable, with integrated speakers.

By MR on 07.26.05 at 02:46 PM

Could be chair or lounger with speakers around the headrest area.  Something along the lines of this (found a la internet):

Maybe it would have a visualizer that wraps around the eyes or a massage function that matches itself to the music raspberry

By Whyren on 07.26.05 at 02:48 PM

I think it’s an insect or animal type thing that sort of gyrates or dances to the iPod songs. It probably has external speakers. Would be similar to those toys from the 90s with the flower with sunglasses on, that would dance to music.

By bev on 07.26.05 at 07:40 PM

No, no, no ... Its clearly a stereoscopic eye-phone/rest with force-feadback and audio playback, featuring full range base-response through the eye-socket and skull-bone. Simply mind-blowing.

By Dan Gomes on 07.26.05 at 10:24 PM

Hmmm, I guess it depends upon what your definition of “IZ” is…

By JG on 07.27.05 at 01:23 AM

Perhaps it’s an iBall? (pun intended as with all i* products) I hope it’s more fun than an iDog.

By anon on 07.27.05 at 03:46 AM

It’s an ipod extension. It’s a little robot/person that you can commond to dance etc…

By Danny O'Neill on 07.27.05 at 04:59 AM

Can somebody judge from the shadow? ...

By TheCritic on 07.27.05 at 05:08 AM

It’s a humanoid robotic iPod “caddy” that follows you around and dances to the music.

By WhoKnowz on 07.27.05 at 05:47 AM

It is obviously a widget, with an optional whatzit, with a dock for a whypod.

Who can’t see that?

By ABgBdWlf on 07.27.05 at 07:01 AM

It’s me.

By God on 07.27.05 at 09:28 AM

It’s a speaker that uses the material it’s attatched to, to make sounds. I.E. It will stick on to windows or other materials and it will vibrate them and produce sound as a result.

By James Yang on 07.27.05 at 12:38 PM

A robot that moves to Ipod tunes.

By Byron L. on 07.27.05 at 01:29 PM

it is a audio sensing moving desktop toy robot with 4 legs that has a microphone and line in jack so that it can groove with the music

By jeff w. on 07.27.05 at 02:57 PM

They are speakers that have suction cups on the bottom so you can stick them on any smooth surface.

By Pappskalle on 07.27.05 at 03:11 PM

Looks like an alien person with a blue ball on his back...that obviously gets down with the music.

By bill on 07.27.05 at 04:55 PM

i want one

By mike on 07.27.05 at 06:10 PM

It is a plama globe that pulses to music.

By Colonel on 07.27.05 at 07:27 PM

Could be..... it’s a sound-to-light device that responds to changes in music.  Maybe with some form of animatronics built in (think Chris Evans and the dancing Flower Pots!)

By Andy on 07.28.05 at 01:50 AM

It’s a tripod iPod audio dock with inbuilt desk lamp and integrated earphone storage system.

By Bob Levens on 07.28.05 at 03:50 AM

suction cup feet creature that dances to the sounds of the ipod, and even sings along.  (possibly using the soundbug technology to stick to glass to make noise)

By Brent on 07.28.05 at 07:23 AM

I think its a visual display that will have a variety of choice images for visualization of the music.

By Pat Rodriguez on 07.28.05 at 09:48 AM

I’d say that people might be expecting too much… lol. It looks like the legs shown are just supports for a blue sphere. It would seem to me that the sphere would light up and change with the music… and it might not even have a speaker to let you hear what music it is reacting to.

By JoJoUSA on 07.28.05 at 10:31 AM

iZ my iPod’s new best firend!

By btsculptor on 07.28.05 at 11:10 AM

“I’d say that people might be expecting too much… lol.”

Oh, my friend, maybe they are not expecting enough…

By Mayim on 07.28.05 at 12:15 PM

probably just a wierd stand

By QWER on 07.28.05 at 02:56 PM

i think that it is a toy for kids just starting to listen to music. Maybe it’s some sort of furry alien (to give it a shape) with an iPod inside it, and it plays music when the kid touches a certain part of the toy.

By javier neira on 07.28.05 at 04:25 PM

It is a bowling ball iPod speaker dock that rolls.

By JP on 07.28.05 at 05:04 PM

It’s a chair that has a surround speaker system.  You can wirelessly connect to your stereo, itunes, or pop your ipod in the little holder and enjoy.  At least that’s my story and I’m sticking with it!

By Paul on 07.28.05 at 05:26 PM

Its a chair with speakers for Ipod hookup.

By Tareq Mahmood on 07.28.05 at 07:52 PM

It is an audio hook-up with color lights that change to the sound of the music.

By geodesic on 07.28.05 at 10:11 PM

.......very nice, dont know what it is tho.

some sort of dancing fan that reacts to the wonderful sounds of what we all know and hear, the iPods Mp3 playback.

who cares what it is in 10days were sure to buy one anyway, and a clever designer will never need to work again (if he doesnt want to)

By Undisclosed on 07.29.05 at 07:45 AM

It’s part of a mad plot to take over the world.

Watch the magic pumpkin...watch the magic pumpkin…

By Xandria on 07.29.05 at 11:12 AM

it’s an ambient music seating device with cool curves and abstract lines that your plug your iPod into so you can sit and listen to music without headphones and without disturbing others…

Either that or it’s the finger tips of the alien from the original 1050’s war of the worlds movie…

By D Frazier on 07.29.05 at 12:00 PM

It’s some sort of dance globe that responds to music input with lights or some other sort of action…

By Jordan M. on 07.29.05 at 02:21 PM

Looks like some kind of speaker system.

By Al McDonnell on 07.29.05 at 03:14 PM

how do u enter

By The King on 07.29.05 at 06:02 PM

From the shaddows, it sort of looks like one of those little robot dogs. As the shadows on the “head” could be the little ears.

By Luis Pinto on 07.29.05 at 08:29 PM

Due to the shape and size of the foot base, it is predictable it does not “walk"/"dance"

Re-entering more info to my reply above ^^^

By Luis Pinto on 07.29.05 at 08:32 PM

I know what iZ is! Go to http://www.zizzle.com/ and View Source (Command-Option-U).

Here’s what it looks like:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html >
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1” />
<title>zizzle.com</title>
<stylesheet” type="text/css" />
<embed src="iz.mp3"

name="iz sounds” pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/">
<embed>
</head>

<body>
</body>
</html>

First, you can listen to the music at http://www.zizzle.com/iz.mp3, but you alos con read this: id="iz sounds”.
So I can say it’s something that makes noise (duh) but it must be something you can make noise WITH and but the noise ON your iPod… We’ll see…

By Spectro on 07.30.05 at 03:39 AM

at http://www.zizzle.com/iz.css a link lead me to this http://www.zizzle.com/images/
they might post more images there.

By sean c. on 07.30.05 at 02:17 PM

the musix cool

By sean c. on 07.30.05 at 02:21 PM

the shadows are impossible. you can see that there are multiple lights around it.

By sean c. on 07.30.05 at 06:02 PM

From looking at the site and listening to the sounds, I’ll guess it’s an interactive electronic instrument, like a drum pad, that you can connect to an iPod, and make percussive noises while your music plays.

By Pat on 07.31.05 at 08:37 AM

it looks like a little alien dock for your ipod that dances to your music

By Kalika on 07.31.05 at 09:26 AM

Im guessing its similar to those flowers you used to be able to get that danced to music. Im guessing this is the same, but it plays the music.

By Stoobie_Land on 07.31.05 at 03:21 PM

After looking at the shadow of the device it appears to be a docking device on top of a type of globe.  I would guess the globe contains lights or electrical pulses that would be synchronized to the music of the iPod.

By 2T on 07.31.05 at 04:58 PM

It’s a wireless, bluetooth Triffid for the new millenia!

By Keith on 08.01.05 at 12:35 AM

That’d be tribble, not triffid!

By Kirk McElhearn on 08.01.05 at 01:30 AM

What I can see from the pics is that this thing has 3 white legs attached to a blue, translucid sphere. This sphere has then an extension on its upper part. This extension has what appears to be two “ears” and an antena. Because it has to do with the iPod then it’s got to do with music. So probable the “ears” are some sort of speakers, the blue sphere could be the base, and the antena could be used to remote control the ipod. Being it a “toy” then probably you can remote control the thing also. Syncronization with music might be included, though the “legs” don’t appear that suited to movement… probably also has some docking station for the ipod, but then also movement would be somewhat limited.

By Fernando Reiter on 08.01.05 at 11:12 AM

Bluetooth headphones

By Brent on 08.01.05 at 01:38 PM

Whatever it is, it looks really cool!

By Austin Van Der Veen on 08.01.05 at 05:12 PM

maybe its a device that shares music betwwen ipods, i mean you plug in two ipods and they syncronise and you can choose what music to exchange. Like they say it is gonna be different and that sounds quite different.

By at least istill have my ladies *looks around* dang on 08.02.05 at 01:48 AM

i think its’s a docking station with a microphone antenna and it has speaker ears. it also has something that dances to the music on your ipod, like the antenna wiggles and the speaker ears move or something

By mike on 08.02.05 at 05:58 AM

it’s a chair for very lean people-not on the atkins diet.

By robert j galica on 08.02.05 at 06:51 AM

“plays well with ipod or any other music source”

if that is so i assume there is no specific ipod dock but instead a more general audio input via cable or a microphone. I guess it is probably a really amusing luminous, dancing, wiggling, gyrating, and wiggly audio visualization. Somehow I can’t help but think that there will be some kind of “game” or “purpose” to the audio/visual combo. There is probably some kind of electrostatic sensors that you can touch to change the appearance of the motions and lights.

By Jake Adams on 08.02.05 at 07:28 AM

iZ is a new ergonomic human interface device which will allow wireless interaction with our music players.

By Jon Adams on 08.02.05 at 08:19 AM

it iZ a portable speaker for iPod

By TomFord on 08.02.05 at 12:31 PM

A voice modifying microphone!

By Rhonda Fairman on 08.02.05 at 01:36 PM

i believe that iz is simply a special speaker sort of thing that comes with an attachment for your ipod/mp3 player. i think the attachment sends the data to the iz via some type of transfer thing (radio waves, wifi, infrared etc) then no matter where your ipod/mp3 player is iz will play your music through its interesting speaker design, also some line in recording may be possible hence the orange microphone. o and it might dance too

By kendall hobson on 08.03.05 at 03:18 AM

its a screen and speakers for playing movies through the ipod.

By luket on 08.03.05 at 07:24 AM

some kind of wireless doohikie that works off a radar concept for recording.

By teresa franklin on 08.03.05 at 07:41 AM

iPod Satelite speakers or maybe a iPod support

By Rafael B. Conceicao on 08.03.05 at 11:54 AM

a toy bird

By Scott Franklin on 08.03.05 at 06:51 PM

I know what it is. It’s ugly.

Also, those aren’t photos. They’re poor 3D renderings.

By A. Tan on 08.03.05 at 07:21 PM

It’s a wireless iPod (or otherwise) speaker/kerokie machine, that you can take with you in the shower (suction cups?).

By Nick Littell on 08.03.05 at 08:03 PM

It iz a robotic ichicken that plays your music and follows you around. Comes with a belt sensor that you wear. Has a special calender function. Chicken will peck you to remind you of appointments(optional).

By concurrent on 08.03.05 at 10:48 PM

He/ She/ It/ iZ , looks really next!! Where and when will it be available?

By lekwin on 08.04.05 at 06:21 AM

Weren’t we supposed to get some additional pictures leading up to the 8th?

By actionjackson on 08.04.05 at 09:32 AM

WHERE’S THE NEW PIC!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!  wasnt there supposed to be one yesterday??? iZ obviously not a calendar

By hoping4VPod on 08.04.05 at 02:20 PM

By funzer on 08.04.05 at 09:23 PM

It’s a fun musical hat! smile

By myguess4U on 08.04.05 at 10:30 PM

futuristic speakers

By dean on 08.04.05 at 11:10 PM

It’s a dancing toy which you can connect your mp3 player.  It will dance to the music and also interact with another iz or with you (like with a furby).  It has speakers for ears and a micropohe antennae is the centre of it’s head which can be used for singing along karoki style.
