Some sort of docking cradle that also serves as a giant heatsink for your MacBook Pro?

By Ben Cochran on 05.21.06 at 10:26 PM

Could this be a weird looking speaker system for the iPod?

By James Merryman on 05.21.06 at 10:35 PM

It’s an iPod case of some kind. The rib things protect it in case you drop it.

By Graeme Smith on 05.21.06 at 11:04 PM

Subwoofer vent of a new iPod speaker system / dock.

By Rums Dabs on 05.21.06 at 11:24 PM

It’s a case for the iPod Hi Fi..
Speck makes cases.

By Boris714 on 05.21.06 at 11:57 PM

It’s a new sort of a speaker system for the iPod. Similar to the ipod hi-fi but better probably.

By Vahidin on 05.22.06 at 01:01 AM

I think it is a one part speaker system with subwoofer builtin.
On top it has a dock for any of the docking ipod models, and an AUX port in the back for all other audio players.
Also it’s black to match the black ipods.

By Jonathan Keim on 05.22.06 at 05:28 AM

It’s an ipod case with a bunch of extra ports on the bottom (line out, video out, mini-usb, dock passthrough), that possibly comes with a remote control too. It makes the ipod about 1cm taller but adds all the ports Apple should have put on the damn unit?

If it isn’t then please, someone, make one!

By Tim on 05.22.06 at 07:05 AM

I have no clue

By Wayne Robertson on 05.22.06 at 07:40 AM

Some sort of speaker system

By Felix Bobadilla on 05.22.06 at 10:40 AM

Hmm… looks like the bottom of some kind of speaker or maybe it’s an empty CD rack because you don’t need CDs anymore?

By Tim Houston on 05.22.06 at 01:19 PM

looks like an amplifier to me… what else would need such a heatsink (if it is one)?
a nice amp with ipod dock, numerous other inputs and outputs, or maybe an equalizer?

By formatc1702 on 05.22.06 at 01:34 PM

it’s a rack to hold the multiple iPod nano’s you need to hold you music collection?

By good grief on 05.22.06 at 01:38 PM

It must be a case with a built in fan for those hot summer days.

By Ben C on 05.22.06 at 03:28 PM

Those have to be a sort of SubWoofer for an iPod set of speakers.

By FIliab on 05.22.06 at 03:44 PM

the last was a speaker systerm so ths is a speaker system

By Cody Peacock on 05.22.06 at 04:16 PM

I recon it’s the reflection of a domino-style line up of ipod nanos in Speck skins...upside down.

By Chris on 05.22.06 at 05:14 PM

Well it seems to be some kind of heatsink. More or less of the kind you would see on a guitar amp.  It’s also very easy to note that there’s a “leg” there for it to stand on.

With these hints I assume it to be a rather high-end speaker system with a worthwhile sub and quite a hefty case.

By WooHooWooHooHoo on 05.22.06 at 11:07 PM

A speaker system with enough amplification power to require a heatsink.

By Kenneth Chong on 05.23.06 at 01:08 AM

I think it could be a case for the iPod Stereo…

By Rob Walrond on 05.23.06 at 06:06 AM

A decent iPod speaker system with class A amplification needing hugh heat sinks? It runs off several car batteries…

By drevo_uk on 05.23.06 at 07:03 AM

I am pretty sure its an ipod subwoofer with specialy desinged speakers!!

By JROCKinAK on 05.23.06 at 07:30 AM

I think its a docking speaker!!! maybe it will have cool lights too… maybe some blue LEDs to accent the black…

By Mike Jones on 05.23.06 at 08:20 AM

It’s a CD case! Wait… no. That can’t be right. The “ribs” on the side look like they’re possibly just a reflection on the item’s metallic surface. (A reflection of 16 black iPods stacked closely in a row?) The item appears to have some sort of “leg” or peg at the bottom, indicating that -if it is a case- it is at least large enough to hold something the size of speakers…

Hmmm… so what is it? I dunno. It’s a toaster for your iPod.

By praetor on 05.23.06 at 09:05 AM

On second thought… it could be some kind of chargin dock or mediain/out dock. Perhaps suitable for an office setting or household setting.

You know, “Charge up to 16 iPods at once in your home or office!” I just have to believe that that reflection is a reflection of 16 ipods stacked closely together… so it stands to reason that it’s a charging base or media center.

Maybe every person in the house plugs their iPod into this one dock and it gives audio/video out to the TV so you can select music or videos from up to 16 iPods by remote control to watch on your TV all from one docking device.

But, I’m probably just cuckoo. Those ridges on the side are actually just pop tarts.

By praetor on 05.23.06 at 10:09 AM

My guess is some sort of new case/dock.  And as for the whole ‘reflections of iPods’ theory, you can see that the ‘ribs’ on the side are really just black plastic(?) stips of varying length, because you can see by the reflection in the glossy material that the one closest to us is far longer than the shortest one furthest away from us.

I know this is probably very intelligable, but I’m tired, so sue me.

By PLDM on 05.23.06 at 02:59 PM

Looks to me like it could be a speaker system. Specially from seeing the sort of “leg” on the bottom of the picture. Maybe a “classic” style speaker?.

By mp3confused on 05.23.06 at 07:38 PM

Looks like a classic styled speaker system to me!

By mp3confused on 05.23.06 at 07:39 PM

ok, the second pic leaves [me] no doubt that it’s a speaker.
but why is it black (1st pic) and yellowish-white (2nd pic)? that last pic looks a lot like those old grey-white computers…

By formatc1702 on 05.24.06 at 09:27 AM

It is a retro stereo system with an iPod dock.  I mean, look at that green color.

By lebkin on 05.24.06 at 12:16 PM

It is a time travel device/speaker system that is activated when an iPod is placed in the dock. Unfortunatley the unit can only go from the present day to the “Golden Age of Radio”. Name another device that would have an old school style speaker cover.

By Jason Anderson on 05.24.06 at 02:01 PM

the bottom picture is a speaker

By bo on 05.24.06 at 05:45 PM

It’s some kind of awesome stupendous dooberlacky speakerbox thingy.

By Des Loh on 05.24.06 at 07:29 PM

I second picture definitly looks like a speaker system similar to the iPod Hi-Fi System. The first one is realy hard to make out...could be a part on the back of the system but pictured very very close. But it looks as if those black plates are movable....strange.

By Daniel Setzermann on 05.25.06 at 12:37 AM

Personally, I think it could be a cozy little cradle/speaker, designed to look like a flower pot...grin...with the iPod docking like a flower.  Just in time for Summer.  Why not?
“Everything’s coming up iPods”

By Rich on 05.25.06 at 02:05 AM

A distintive Speaker for your ipod.

By Adam on 05.25.06 at 03:16 AM

It could also be some kind of coathanger for ipod cases or something like that. Or either that, or somekind of ventilation.

By Symbol on 05.25.06 at 03:23 AM

It’s a high-end speaker system like the iPod hifi.

By Ho Yan Chan on 05.25.06 at 03:32 AM

This is so obvious!  It’s the long awaited iPod Ottoman Dock with foot-controlled remote.

By PodPiper on 05.25.06 at 07:33 AM

Ahhhh this is an easy one. With summer about to kick in, this is the first portable air conditioning / speaker system. The first photo with the “heat sink” fins are actually the vents that cool-music filled air flows out of. The second photo is the incoming air filter & base speaker.

By Tim on 05.25.06 at 08:12 AM

I think it’s looking like some sort of retro case, made to look like a 70’s-ish television or radio…

By wade on 05.25.06 at 09:48 AM

The product is a case for the the Apple iPod Hifi Stereo system, coming in different colors to suit the personality of the buyer. The back of the unit probably contains such things has line outs, aux, etc. It maybe has a dock for the ipod. The “ribs” seen in the first picture are air vents so the unit is cool inside. It possibly is a traveling case, so you are able to bring the hifi in places such as a camping ground or the beach (think portability). That is my take on it.

By Paolo on 05.25.06 at 01:42 PM

look’s like sattelite speakers with subwoofer.

By SoundGood on 05.25.06 at 02:02 PM

It’s some form of speaker box, possibly resembling the Apple speaker box.

By Nick St=yrax on 05.26.06 at 04:54 AM

audio speaker with built in amp to power it.

By michael on 05.26.06 at 08:03 AM

I think its some kind of retro styled speaker/ Dock

By Manuel on 05.26.06 at 01:24 PM

it’s an ipod Hi-fi case!
With many color options and standalone hack!

By Guilherme Moura on 05.26.06 at 02:44 PM

Its a custom made Ipod Carrying Case for there real new product which is what the mystery is.

By Chris Dillon on 05.26.06 at 06:15 PM

I, like the vast majority, think it’s a speaker system.  Go team go.

By Natalie on 05.27.06 at 07:46 AM

Looks like a speaker system hi-fi with ipod and also external support

By K.S. on 05.28.06 at 01:54 AM

Looks like a speaker to stick in your house and dock your ipod.

By Eric Kunz on 05.28.06 at 06:48 AM

A vintage speaker for the iPod?

By David on 05.28.06 at 11:25 AM

a docking system with a speaker.

By lance on 05.28.06 at 03:39 PM

some specialy desinged speakers for the ipod?

By johnny Mcgee on 05.28.06 at 06:13 PM

no Idea ... a Stereo for the Ipod ? ...

By Claudia on 05.28.06 at 06:18 PM

A Speaker would be my guess.

By Lewis on 05.28.06 at 08:02 PM

definitely a portable hifi system ala ipod hifi.

By howzan on 05.29.06 at 02:18 AM

Its an ipod system with three speakers. The cnetral one ( purple- 3rd picture) has the dock on top of it. There may be two green ones( 2 nd picture) and one bass subwoofer ( the black one) with fans so it doesnt get too hot.

Im probably wrong but"its just a bit of fun”

By Bhavik on 05.29.06 at 06:07 AM

This must be a speaker system with subwoofer. At least the first pic looks similar to the heatsink in my home sub.

By Janne on 05.29.06 at 06:41 AM

I’m thinking it’s a foot rest with ipod speakers built into it

By Matthew Rexrode on 05.29.06 at 07:22 AM

A heatsink for the 6G iPod.

By M's Poppa on 05.29.06 at 09:00 AM

I think its a retro speaker system.

By mmtman on 05.29.06 at 09:30 AM

it’s an old fashioned speaker..record player like

By nicholas Cicero on 05.29.06 at 03:43 PM

sorry about that post… I definitly think its a speaker system with some kind of heat sink. It looks kind of retro too!!

By Luc Luxton on 05.29.06 at 04:30 PM

don’t know, but I’m sure it will be good

By Marlane Ellsworth on 05.29.06 at 04:54 PM

It’s a nuclear submarine with an iPod connector on the dashboard.

By polterbyte on 05.29.06 at 05:37 PM

It’s a Giraffe.

By Chris on 05.29.06 at 05:49 PM

It’s a portable speaker system in the compact form of an iPod case, with the speaker on the back with surrounding ribs to protect the iPod and the speaker from impact. ;D

By butterfly0fdoom on 05.29.06 at 09:35 PM

It looks as a large speaker maybe with some sub-woofer hopefully 5.1 or up?

smile

By Asaru on 05.29.06 at 10:16 PM

Looks like the specktone speaker system that they just released....

I win?

By benja on 05.30.06 at 04:40 AM

please i want to win

By Daniel Ziv on 05.30.06 at 05:49 AM

A charging speaker/subwoofer ipod dock with vents on the back and multiple color choices?
