E&B release Slipper iPod case

pic E&B Company, makers of cases for PDAs and handheld devices has released a new case for iPod named Slipper. The all black leather case features a flip-lid design, magnetic closure, access to all functions/ports and a removeable leather pouch for earbuds. The Slipper comes in two versions; with belt clip for $49.95 and without belt clip for $46.95. Both versions are in stock and shipping for 10, 15 and 30GB iPods.

Shinza announces ZeroShock case

picShinza has released a line of accessory cases for digital devices including a small size said to be perfect for iPod. The ZeroShock Mobile Accessory cases feature “high-resistance polyurethane foam that provides superior absorption of external impact force”, two mesh pockets, comes in three sizes (small, medium and long), and is available in black or grey.

New XtremeMac iPod Deluxe case announced

XtremeMac has released the new iPod Deluxe leather cases for 3G iPod models. The case has a patent pending design feature where the iPod is held in place without anything in the front covering the face of iPod. It also features a large access hole for the headphone/remote ports, and the front flap with Velcro closure can be opened without having to unplug the cable. The Deluxe case comes in Black Leather or Camel Tweed and is available for $29.95 (includes belt clip).

ProClip announces auto mounts for iPod

pic ProClip, makers of custom made accessory mounts for automobiles has announced new mounts for iPod. “ProClip mounting brackets are clip-on devices, that attach to the car or truck’s dashboard or console, and can be self-installed in seconds. Once the bracket is in place, a custom designed holder is attached to provide a perfect fit for the Apple iPod.” ProClip holders for 10, 15 and 30GB iPod are available for $34.95 and cost for mounts vary depending on model.

VAJA Outlet sells cases at 50% off

Argentine case maker Vaja has opened an outlet on its website to liquidate cases at 50% off regular pricing. “There are over 100 cases and over 15 leather combinations, all first class products which the same Vaja purchase terms and conditions, shipping and warranty policies as the rest of our products in the website.” There are only cases available for 5GB and 10GB iPods. There are no cases available for new 3G iPods.

Battery replacement kit for 3G iPods

The Laptops for Less website has posted information announcing that a battery replacement kit for new 3G iPods is under development and will be available by October ‘03. The replacement kit includes a new Li-Ion battery, tools and instructions for $49. Laptops for Less also sells a replacement battery kit ($59) for non-docking iPods and an AC adapter ($29) for all iPods.

Secrets of the iPod, Third Edition Released

Peachpit Press has announced the release of the third edition of Secrets of the iPod by Mac author and columnist, Chris Breen.

“A reengineered, all-touch interface; customizable menus; on the-go playlists; support for more (and better) audio formats; a new travel alarm clock; wired remote control; an elegant and convenient charging and syncing dock; and a trio of fun games are just some of the new features covered here. iTrip for 3G iPod delayed again

Here is the response to my inquiry about my iTrip order status to Griffin customer service:

“There was a delay due to unexpected manufacturing issues. The new iTrip is slated to begin shipping by the end of September. The standard protocol for shipping iTrips will be to send out the oldest pre-orders first.  The expediency to which we can get to your order will depend upon when the order was received and the availability of our inventory. We here at Griffin will work as hard as we can to get your orders to you.  We value your interest and appreciate your patience.”

SendStation announces preorder for PocketDock FireWire adapter

pic German company SendStation has announced that it is accepting preorders for the PocketDock FireWire adapter for 3G iPods.

“The tiny device allows a standard 6-pin FireWire cable to connect to the iPod’s proprietary docking port, giving the user the freedom and independence she has come to expect from her iPod. The PocketDock allows 3G iPod owners to charge the battery, exchange files or simply utilize existing accessories for previous-model iPods. The PocketDock starts shipping September 12 for US$ 18.95 through our online store and soon after, through authorized dealers worldwide.”

MARWARE announces CEO Classic case for 3G iPod

MARWARE today announced the release of their new CEO Classic case for 3G iPods. The CEO features top qualtiy leather, clear plastic screen protector, access to all ports and functions, and flip-lid design with earbud storage pocket.

“The CEO Classic comes with a removable low-profile spring clip. Other accessories available separately include: Lanyard, Bike Holder, Car Holder, Swivel Clip and a Leather Swivel Clip. The CEO Classic comes in two sizes, one to fit the 10GB & 15GB 3G iPods and one to fit the 30GB 3G iPod. Both cases are available in black and retail for $34.95.”

Griffin announces redesigned PowerPod

Griffin Technology has redesigned the PowerPod iPod auto adapter. “The Griffin PowerPod, the only iPod charger fully compatible with both original and new Apple iPods, now has a sleek new grey and white charger module that’s well matched with Griffin’s other iPod accessories. The new PowerPod also includes a new ultra-light ultra-flexible 48-inch FireWire cable - also in white.”

Cancom UK offering discounted DVBase LTD

Cancom in the UK are selling off limited edition DVForge DVBases for less than £20 (+taxes and delivery). The price is actually falling daily, so this is even less than I paid yesterday.

Vaja announces new European distributor

Vaja announced today that Innovacases.com is their official European importer and distributor for its product line, including all iPod cases. The new French based website will be completed by the end of September.

Griffin iTrip for 3G iPod to ship early September

iLounger ‘jasonmccabe’ has informed fellow iPodders that the new iTrip for 3G iPods is expected to ship in early September according to an email from Jack C., Tech Support for Griffin Technology.

“It was scheduled for release on July 21 but we have had to delay that for a few more weeks. We hope to release it in early September. We’re sorry for the delay - but it WILL be worth it.”

Marware CEO Classic 3G Now Shipping

Marware has finally found a leather manufacturer to produce their CEO Classic 3G design. Their website states that the case is now shipping for $34.95.

“The CEO Classic case offers elegant protection for the iPod on the go. A patented belt clip system offers interchangeable clip options including belt clips, bike and car holders.”

Screen protectors for eXo released

#### the designer and manufacturer of eXo announces Shades, a 1.5mm soft, scratch resistant molded TPU screen protector for the 3rd gen iPod is now available and will be shipped to all distributors and resellers this week from his factory in China. Shades totally covers the screen area and a 1.0mm wide rim fits nicely under the eXo skin. The combination of Shade’s smooth surface contacting the screen and the rim hold it in place, there is no adhesive to mark your screen. The surface between shades and the iPod screen has a 0.5mm space that gently tapers from the center of Shades to the rim. When placed properly you should get little to no ‘wet’ look between Shades and your display.

Belkin Battery Pack “Can” Charge iPod

The Belkin Battery Pack states that it will not charge the iPod, rather it will just provide power to the iPod when you plug it in directly.  I’ve discovered that when you plug the battery pack into the dock, place the iPod on the dock, it will charge your iPod and allow it to function normally as if plugged into the adapter.

We asked XtremeMac when the case would ship and the reply was, “Most likely in 2 weeks, but I should know an exact date by tomorrow.” We’ll post an update if and when the ship date is confirmed.

MacMice updates GPerch iPod stand

MacMice has released an updated version to its GPerch all aluminum iPod stand. The GPerch stand mimics the design of the yet-to-be-released Apple G5 Mac and now sells for $29.99 (originally $39.99)

All clear FlipStand now shipping

Speck Products has announced that their new, all clear FlipStand is now shipping. The new 3G iPod case features a custom dock (works with existing iPod cable that comes with all iPods), doubles as a stand, access to scroll wheel, clear window LCD protection, detachable belt clip, and custom inserts for 10, 15, & 30GB models. The new FlipStand sells for $29.95.
