Ultimate Ears has introduced its new Triple.fi 10vi Earphones. Designed for use with the iPhone and other smartphones, the triple-driver earphones feature an in-line microphone and remote button for answering calls and controlling audio playback. According to Ultimate Ears, the Triple.fi 10vi also feature the same sonic signature as the company’s custom personal monitors. Included with the earphones are a 1/4” adapter jack, a hard shell carrying case, a cleaning tool, a 26” extender cable, a sound level attenuator, and a kit containing an assortment of eartips to ensure a proper fit and seal. The Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10vi Earphones are available now and sell for $420.
Tekkeon has introduced its new myPower combination case and battery for the iPhone 3G. Designed as an open faced leather case, the myPower offers open access to the headphone jack, Home, sleep/wake, and volume buttons, ring/silent switch, and screen. In addition to a snap closure and an included screen protector, the case features an integrated, rechargeable lithium polymer battery, with a capacity level indicator and mini-USB port for charging the battery that doubles as a charging/sync port for the iPhone. The Tekkeon myPower for iPhone is Works With iPhone certified, and is available for pre-order now for $70. It is expected to begin shipping on December 15.
Speck Products has introduced its new QwickDraw case for the iPhone and iPhone 3G. The new holster-style case features Speck’s spring-loaded Qwick Latch technology that keeps the phone securely locked in the case, yet allows for fast, easy removal. Other features include soft interior lining, a rotating belt clip, and a black, textured outer surface with stitching details. The Speck QwickDraw for iPhone and iPhone 3G is available now and is priced at $30.
Following publication of our review of the new fashion-forward stereo headset Vibe II, which noted issues with the unit’s integrated microphone, V-Moda has announced the release of an improved version. According to the company, though the first microphone was designed primarily to enhance voice intelligibility for iPhone 3G phone calls, a new microphone has been chosen to improve performance under additional usage scenarios, including iPhone 3G voice recording, VoIP, and other third-party applications, as well as with the latest Apple MacBook computers.
All Vibe II headsets made after November 25, 2008 will contain the new microphone, as well as the prior model’s iPhone-, late 2008 iPod-, and late 2008 MacBook-compatible play/track control button, sport earhooks, and unique stainless steel earbuds. The Hard Leather Case is a form-fitting case featuring a rigid plastic shell, leather exterior, soft interior lining, open access to all ports and controls, and an included screen protector. It is available in black or red and is priced at $30. The Boneless Silicone Case is a form-fitting silicone case offering integrated covers for the Home, volume, and sleep/wake buttons, full access to all other ports and controls, Rivet graphics on the rear of the case, and an included screen protector. It sells for $20. Finally, the Touchable Crystal Case is a clear hard shell acrylic case featuring open access to all ports and controls and an integrated touch-thru hard screen protector. It sells for $25.
Griffin Technology has announced that it is now shipping a revised version of its RoadTrip with SmartScan combination car charger, mount, and FM transmitter that is certified for use with the iPhone and iPhone 3G. RoadTrip includes interchangeable, model-specific cradles for iPhone or iPod to securely mount the device on a flexible steel neck, and features the ability to play music from the device while charging, a built-in FM transmitter with RDS technology and SmartScan for automatically finding open station frequencies, a line output, and an integrated display for tuning. Griffin’s RoadTrip with SmartScan for iPhone is available now and sells for $100.
Element Case has introduced its Liquid case for the iPhone and iPhone 3G. The Liquid is a unique case offering an inner layer of injection-molded, transparent, back-painted polymer, a molded polycarbonate bezel that keeps the phone secure in the case, nickel-plated fasteners that hold the case together, a translucent acrylic lid that protects the phone’s screen when attached and can be stuck on the case’s back when the phone is in use, and an anodized aluminum backplate. Incase has introduced its new Power Slider case for the iPhone 3G. Based on the company’s previous Slider Case, the Power Slider features an integrated lithium-ion polymer battery to provide added power to the iPhone. According to the company, the Power Slider can provide up to 330 hours of standby time, 26 hours of audio playback, up to 5 hours of 3G talk time or 10 hours over EDGE, up to 7 hours of video playback, and up to 5 hours of Internet use over 3G or 6 hours over Wi-Fi. When connected, power drains first from the Power Slider to help preserve the device’s internal battery, and a five-light LED indicator on the rear shows battery status and also shows when the case is in sync mode or charging. Included in the package is a custom USB 2.2 cable that allows for high capacity charging and data exchange. Incase’s Power Slider for iPhone 3G will be available this holiday season and will sell for $100.
Mophie has announced that it is now shipping its Juice Pack for the iPhone 3G. The Juice Pack houses a rechargeable lithium polymer battery within a soft touch, non-slip rear case. According to the company, it offers an additional 350 hours of standby time, 6 hours of talk time on 3G, 12 hours of talk time on 2G, 6 hours of Internet use on 3G, 8 hours of video playback, or 28 hours of audio playback. Other features include “Works With iPhone” certification, a 4 LED charge status indicator, and a USB passthrough port for charging and syncing. The Mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 3G is available now and sells for $100.
Ivyskin has introduced its new Quattro line of cases for the iPhone 3G. The Quattro T1 is a form-fitting silicone case, offering built-in coverage for all buttons and controls, solid polycarbonate protectors for the sensors and rear Apple logo, and an included screen protector and Dock and headphone jack plugs. It is available for pre-order in black, red, white, or blue, and sells for $35. The Quattro T2 is a hybrid-style case, featuring an inner silicone skin, an unique Xylo Glass Touch-Thru screen cover that allows for use of the touch screen through the glass, and an outermost layer of hard polycarbonate that snaps in place over the silicone skin and has a built-in polished aluminum faceplate. OtterBox has introduced its new Impact Case for the iPhone 3G. Unlike prior OtterBox cases, which provided at least some level of water protection, the Impact Case is an open-faced, form-fitting silicone sleeve. It offers open access to the headphone jack, ring/silent switch, Dock Connector port, speaker, microphone, sensors and camera, silicone pass-through buttons for the home, sleep/wake, and volume buttons, and inner corners designed to dissipate impact shock away from the device. The OtterBox Impact Case for iPhone 3G is available now in black or white and sells for $20.
Marware is preparing its new Game Grip accessory for the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G. The Game Grip combines a high-grade silicone case with a thick grip mount, letting users hold their iPhone or iPod touch like they would a more traditional game controller. Other features include a a unique cord management system for routing both headphone and Dock Connector cables through the back of the grip and silicone grip covers. The Marware Game Grip for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G will sell for $50; a release date has yet to be announced.
First announced in January, FastMac has announced that its iV Extended Battery for the iPhone and iPhone 3G is now available. The iV is a Dock-mounting accessory that fully covers the iPhone’s bottom and rear, save for the camera, and contains a 3100mAH TruePower battery that extends the iPhone’s capabilities to 24 hours of talk time, 31 days of standby, 20+ hours of video, and almost 72 hours of audio playback time. Griffin has released a new version of its iTrip Auto FM Transmitter for the iPhone and iPhone 3G. Functionally identical to the updated iTrip Auto released in September, iTrip Auto for iPhone employs a one-cable design combining a FM transmitter and auto charger, featuring an in-line control box with a backlit LCD screen, SmartScan automatic FM frequency-finder button, four presets, and tuning buttons, and a charging stem with power switch and a three-color charging indicator. Griffin’s iTrip Auto for iPhone is available now and sells for $70.
Addressing one of the major missing functions of the iPhone 3G in its region, Japanese iPhone carrier SoftBank has announced (Translated Link) a new combination 1seg receiver and battery pack for the iPhone 3G. According to the company’s announcement, the new accessory will use Wi-Fi to transmit video to a special application to be released on the App Store, allowing users to watch 1seg broadcasts on their iPhones. SoftBank claims the user can get around three hours of continuous viewing time. The SoftBank “TV & Battery” for iPhone 3G is set for a mid-December release; pricing has yet to be determined. Speck has unveiled its SwitchWay case for the iPhone 3G. Designed to offer users a choice in how they use the case, the SwitchWay can be worn as both a horizontal portfolio case and as a vertical wallet-style case. It features two built-in belt clips, a padded inner lining, dual closure flaps to allow access to the iPhone regardless of case orientation, and fingertip-sized openings for easy removal of the iPhone, which also include openings for dock and headphone cable connections. The Speck SwitchWay case for iPhone 3G is available now in black with yellow stitching and normally sells for $35; it is currently on sale for $18.
Vaja has introduced two new cases for the iPhone 3G. The ivolution Silver (925) is an open-faced leather case featuring open access to the volume and sleep/wake buttons, ring/silent switch, Dock Connector, speaker, microphone, headphone jack, and camera, with silver appliques on the sides and home button. It is available now in a variety of colors, and sells for $280 and up. The ivolution Dockable is also an open-faced case, offering open access to the camera, home button, headphone jack, speaker, and microphone, coverings for the sleep/wake switch and volume and sleep/wake buttons, and a folding design which allows the bottom of the case to move backward, exposing the bottom of the iPhone for easier docking. Myvu has announced that its Myvu Crystal wearable video display has received “Works with iPhone” certification for both the original iPhone and iPhone 3G. Compatibility is provided via a new iPhone-compatible cable, which is now available on Myvu’s website for $25. Released this past May, Myvu Crystal features VGA resolution, Kopin’s CyberDisplay technology, a rechargeable battery with up to four hours of viewing time, earbuds from Ultimate Ears, a 35% increase in the field of view compared to previous Myvu models, and sells for $300.
