If Then Software releases the “iPod ActionPak”

If Then Software presents the “iPod ActionPak,” which is 3 great utilities for your iPod ($9.95). Mac|Windows|Linux: iPodder under development

iPodder automatically downloads new mp3 files when they become available from any of five sources (you can change these if you wish) and copies them to playlists in iTunes based on the channel name. If you have an iPod, connecting it to your computer will load the songs automatically. This software is currently under development as a SourceForge project.

MacSkinz releases The Wedgee adjustable stand

iTunes accused of overcharging UK customers

“Apple’s iTunes music download service has been accused by the Consumers’ Association of overcharging UK users.

The group accused the service of charging UK-based customers nearly 20% more than those with addresses and payment details in France or Germany.”

Listening to iPod through antique radios

“The store’s owner, 50-year-old Takeyuki Ishii, recommends plugging an iPod into an FM transmitter, such as Griffin Technology’s iTrip, and listening to music through the speaker of an antique radio.

Ishii believes there is aural magic in the combination of the very old with the very new. Playing an iPod through an old radio or tube-driven amplifier gives it a special warmth and atmosphere, he says.”

STM releases 4G/HP skins for iPod Cocoon

Speck Products announces FlipStand for 4G/HP iPods

Yahoo to buy MusicMatch for $160 million

“Internet company Yahoo Inc. said on Tuesday it will buy privately held music software company Musicmatch Inc. for about $160 million in a bid to bolster its online music services.

San Diego-based Musicmatch offers software that lets users manage digital music collection and listen to online radio stations. Customers also download songs from its music store.”

Apple airs new iPod + iTunes ad

picApple has posted and began airing another new TV spot for iPod + iTunes titled “Saturday Hip Hop” featuring the song “Saturday Night” by Ozomatli. The new ad is similar to previous ads featuring silhouetted dancers on colored backgrounds.

TunesTracker email service alerts you to iTunes music

After registering with TunesTracker, users can enter the names of up to 50 of their favorite music groups. Once a day, TunesTracker checks the iTunes Music Store for new songs by those artists. By clicking a link, users can open the song in the iTunes Music Store, listen to a clip, and buy the song.”

Felt Cafe releases handmade iPod pouches

Sonance announces iPort in-wall docking station

MacMinute reports that “Sonance today introduced the iPort, an in-wall docking station for the Apple’s iPod that integrates the player into any multi-room audio system as a source component. Compatible with Sonance’s full line of IR control systems, amplifiers and accessories, the iPort “turns any room into an iPod concert hall.” The iPort, which will begin shipping before the end of the year, will come in two versions: one that can be installed in any wall location and connected locally or to the main audio system, and a rack-mountable version to integrate the iPod within an audio equipment rack. Additionally, the company has said the iPort will include parts to accommodate all Apple iPod models, as well as connections for power, control and audio output. Pricing was not announced.”

New software allows iTunes music on non-iPod devices

“A German company is offering what it claims is a legal method of making iTunes Music Store music playable on devices other than the iPod.

RapidSolution Software claims its Windows only software, Tunebite, ‘legally provides the user with new music files without restrictions’.”

iPod+hp arrives in stores - early

Six days ahead of the September 15 scheduled release date, Hewlett-Packard’s version of the iPod - the “Apple iPod from HP” - is now available in retail stores. iLounge’s Dennis Lloyd spotted “a huge number” of units for sale at the popular Fry’s Electronics chain in Southern California, with 20GB and 40GB units consuming two full store shelves at a store. The units use partially different packaging, such that the 20GB model includes imagery of a woman in a room, while the 40GB version depicts a man on the street, each wearing the distinctive stylized white earbud cords that appear prominently in new HP advertising. As expected, the units retail for $299.99 and $399.99, respectively.
