LairWare Software has released MPFreaker 1.0, the final version of its easy-to-use Mac OS X music library improvement software. MPFreaker automatically finds and inserts album artwork, album name, genre, year, and track number. The $20 software allows you to process any number of songs automatically and supports MP3 and AAC audio files.
iPodBackup 1.4 is the latest version of the Mac OS X utility that backs up your home folder to your iPod using the open source backup utility called rsync. Version 1.4 brings drag-and-drop editing of exceptions, Swedish localization, and support for second, third, etc. system language preferences, and a number of bug fixes.
iPresent It 1.1 from ZappTek is the latest version of the software that allows you to convert PowerPoint, PDF and Keynote presentations into slideshows that are synced with your iPod photo. This updates adds Keynote 2 compatibility, build support when using Keynote 2, support for high resolution presentations, and tracking of presentations to indicate which presentations need to be updated.
Enrique Quintero Design has released PodGourmet 2.0, the latest version of the iPod-based gourmet food recipe database of 260 recipes. The company has also posted PodGourmet Vegan Edition 2.0, an update to its vegan recipe database of 277 recipes. Both updates add an index in each category with links to each recipe in that category. PodGourmet and the vegan version sell for $7.50 each.
iPodderX 2.2.7 is the latest version of the podcasting client for Mac OS X. Web iPod Bible Sync is an applescript program for Mac OS X to download your current Bible reading from BibleGateway.com. You enter calculation information which is then used to calculate your daily reading from the date, explains the developer. The software includes support for a built-in reading plan and concordance, as well as using a preferences file.
ZappTek has released iPod Launcher 1.5, a new version of its software for automatically launching applications and scripts when you connect your iPod. This version adds the ability to select a minimum amount of time between launches, ensures that system resources are only used when an iPod is connected to your Mac, and a number of other minor enhancements.

Rogue Amoeba Software today announced Slipstream, a new application that allows audio from any application to be heard through remote speakers attached to Apple’s AirPort Express. “Since its release, tens of thousands of people have purchased Apple’s new AirPort Express and enjoyed the AirTunes feature, allowing audio from iTunes to be played to remote speakers. With Slipstream, audio from any application can be sent to the AirPort Express—users longing to send audio from applications like RealPlayer and Windows Media Player need look no further than Slipstream.” Slipstream will be available early next year for an introductory price of US$20.
iPresent It 1.0.1 is the first update to ZappTek’s software for converting PowerPoint, PDF and Keynote presentations to slideshows viewable on your iPod photo. Panic has officially retired its Audion MP3 application and made it a free download. The company has posted an amazing story by co-founder Cabel Sasser on the history of Audion, including very interesting details on the early days of MP3, a failed AOL deal, meeting Apple CEO Steve Jobs and how Audion almost became iTunes.
Micromat, makers of the TechTool Pro disk repair utility for Macintosh, has announced a new utility for iPod. PodLock allows users to hide important files by creating an “invisible” partition on their iPod. According to Christian Pickman, Product Manager of Micromat, “It’s like having a secret drive for your data files that only you can see by entering your personal password. If you use your iPod as an external drive to transport data, you’ll want this protection in the event that you should ever lose your iPod.” The utility can also unfragment file data on the iPod, improving file retrieval and music access speed; backup and restore data on the primary iPod volume; and display important and interesting technical information about the iPod, like where a specific iPod was manufactured. PodLock is priced at $65.
