Steve Jobs poll ends, Fall 2011 lineup poll begins

With over 1,300 votes from iLounge readers, our latest poll—“How do you think Apple will do now that Steve Jobs has resigned?”—has ended. Readers could say that they expected it to continue as it has, continue to make great products but fall behind schedule, become more susceptible to bad ideas, or have issues with both products and timing, with a separate option for those that don’t have an opinion.
A majority of readers—61 percent—said they think Apple will continue as it has, producing great products in a timely fashion. 15 percent said they think it will be become more susceptible to bad ideas, followed by 12 percent that thought it would continue to do well on the product side but might fall behind schedule, and seven percent that thought it would have issues with both products and timing. Another five percent of readers didn’t have an opinion. Thanks for all your votes!

Apple iPhone event begins at 10am PT/1pm ET
Apple’s special “Let’s talk iPhone” media event will begin later today at 1:00 pm Eastern Time/10:00 am Pacific Time. At the event, Apple is widely expected to introduce at least one new iPhone model, announce Sprint as a carrier partner in the U.S., provide an update on iOS 5 as well as a release date, and potentially offer an update on its iPod lineup, specifically the iPod touch and iPod shuffle. We will be posting regular updates throughout the course of the event; check back later to catch all the latest news as it happens.

Cellular data poll ends, post-Jobs poll begins

With nearly 1,600 votes from iLounge readers, our latest poll—“How much cellular data do you normally use in a month on your iPhone/iPad?”—has ended. Readers could choose from options including 0-250MB, 250-500MB, 500MB-1GB, 1GB-2GB, 2GB-5GB, and 5GB+, with a separate option for readers who don’t own an iPhone or iPad.
Votes were spread quite evenly among the options, with 0-250MB being the most selected option with 19 percent of the vote. 18 percent said they used 500MB-1GB of data per month, followed by 17 percent who average 250-500MB, and 16 percent who said they normally use 1GB-2GB. 12 percent said they average between 2GB and 5 GB, while just six percent said they normally use more than 5GB per month. 13 percent said they didn’t have an iPhone or iPad. 2012 iLounge Pavilion grows to 75,000 square feet

The Consumer Electronics Association today announced that the iLounge Pavilion at the 2012 International CES has grown to 75,000 square feet, making it the largest dedicated exhibition of iPod, iPhone, and iPad related products and services in the world. “The success of the iLounge Pavilion is unparalleled, featuring the largest number of i-related product launches at any event, any time of year,” said Karen Chupka, senior vice president, events and conferences, CEA. “With strong industry demand for a showcase of these popular products, the iLounge Pavilion at the 2012 International CES is the place where key business is done for this space.”
The 2012 iLounge Pavilion will feature products from more than 250 companies spread across its space—compared to 200 companies across 50,000 square feet in 2011. Notably, the 2011 International CES’s independently audited attendance of over 149,000 people was up 18 percent from the year prior; it is the largest consumer electronics trade show in the world. The 2012 International CES will be held January 10-13, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
