Katapult is a win32 application which can start the program(s)of your choice when you connect your iPod to your PC. I personnally made it to start Ephpod with the SYNCHANDQUIT parameter so that when I would plug in my iPod Ephpod would be started, then it would synch, and later exit, all of this automatically. Katapult always runs in the background, but it’s CPU load and the memory it takes are figures close to zero, so it isn’t a problem, closing is possible with Ctrl-Alt-Del if necessary.
1.0 update includes a configuration utility, meaning it’s even easier then before to set up!
vPod is a free, easy to use Windows program for transferring music and playlists to your iPod. It presents a combined view of all the music you have, and what is and isn’t on your iPod. The interface is very intuitive and easy to use.
Some of you have experienced this: The recently released Windows iPod Software Updater launches and is completely unresponsive (while CPU usage maxes out at 100%!) - leaving you unable to do anything with your freshly formatted iPod. What a dead end! After some ‘Googling’ I found an app written for exactly this problem: WinniePod will restore or update your iPod regardless.

The iPod Software 1.3 Update provides iTunes 4 support, including playback of AAC encoded audio files (Mac-only). For Windows users, iPod Software 1.3 adds support for Audible.com content. Additional enhancements include audio playback and user interface improvements, increased playback time on scroll-wheel iPods, and longer stand-by time for all iPods.
iPod Software Update 1.3 is only compatible with touch-wheel and scroll-wheel iPods without a dock connector. The recently introduced iPods (April 28, 2003) do not need this update.
Update: Apple has since removed the ‘Windows’ button from the download page. We hope Apple posts the link soon and quick’s teasing our Windows iPod users.
It would seem that Apple is getting ready to post the long awaited iPod Software 1.3 for Windows. A ‘Windows’ button has appeared on the official iPod Software 1.3 download page, but is not yet active.
iPod_News 1.0 was released for 3G ipods today. It reads RSS files (versions 0.91 0.92 and 2.0) from the internet and syncs them with your iPod. News appears in the notes folder of your iPod.
It seems that the MUSICMATCH software key that shipped with the original Windows iPod will not activate the new 8.0 version. Users must purchase an upgrade. iLounge Forum members suggest that new docking iPods are able to obtain the update at no charge, but the 8.0 version does not have an iPod plugin as yet.
MUSICMATCH has launched a new version of its Jukebox, the software usually attached to Windows iPods. Main updates are visual enhancements and fine-tuning ‘under the hood’.
