Apple’s 2004 Edition of 1984 Commercial
Apple has created a new 2004 edition of the infamous 1984 Macintosh commercial to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Macintosh. It depicts a sledge hammer-wielding woman wearing an iPod - which aired only once during the 1984 Super Bowl.
The following is a side-by-side comparison of the original 1984 and 2004 Edition of the 1984 Apple Macintosh commercial:

Now that is a funny typo.
The ad is *famous,* not *infamous.* :-D

I know that they added the iPod (nice job, Chiat/Day), but it looks like they definitely changed the woman in the commercial, too. Seamess! (first post!)

No they didn’t. They just added the ipod.
I played the old one and the new one simulatneously side by side… there’s *no way* it’s a new girl.
By the way, they certainly did some sort of restoration to the video itself—the new one is much higher quality and better color than the version I have.

lmao at the first comment, the word isn’t in-famous as in “not famous” it’s infamous as in well known or notorious.
not a typo

They should have used the minipod to retain that cheap 1984 look.

it’s not microsoft she’s smashing.. it’s supposed to be IBM… that’s also the reason it’s infamous (not famous)... it’s infamous because it portrayed IBM as Big Brother…. as in big brother from 1984 not the idiotic TV show… if you don’t know what 1984 refers to then you’re an idiot.

I’m not sure why it’s ‘infamous’ either. What made the commercial have such a bad reputation?

Don’t worry, -i2i-... I don’t care you called me an idiot.
I have checked all of these online dictionaries for your definition of infamous. Can you find me a source where infamous is synonymous with well-known (without any negative denotation)???

I know how infamous is spelled, and I know what it means. The ad is regarded as one of the BEST in advertising history. Not evil, vile, or notorious.
The word should be “famous.”

wow! azdude! you are a funny guy.. some people might say “idiotic” but I’ll say “funny”...
the definition of infamous is exactly as you said… famous but with a bad or notorious reputation…. as i posted earlier.. the commercial is infamous because it portrays IBM as BIG BROTHER. as in Big Brother from the BOOK 1984 by George Orwell…
type it into a search engine.. or try listening in class…. or better yet… go to a library…
