10GB and 30GB iPods on sale
The Apple Store has the 10G and 30G 3rd generation iPods on sale in the “Special Deals” section of the online store. These are new units, priced at $249 and $449, respectively.

Those aren’t “Special Deals”, they’re not even deals. Why the heck would you consider 449 for a 30 GB and overlook the 40GB for only 50 bucks more?

Why would they price a new-in-box 30GB unit for the same or less than a 20GB unit?
They’re temporarily reintroducing more intermediate capacities, at the appropriate intermediate prices. What’s wrong with that?
They’re not refurbished, they’re not used. They’re not even really “old models”... they’re just discontinued capacities, but are otherwise identical to the current models.

Good deal? My girlfriend just bought a new in the box 3rd G. 10gb ipod from Target for 149.95 on 3/13/04. Its not displayed, you need to ask if they have any left over in the store room.

Kmac, are you serious? I don’t find it very likely that you can walk into a target store and pick up one for $149. My target has ipods, but for the normal price. I guess I’ll try it though, ask for any leftover 10gb.
