AppleCare for Apple TV now available [updated]
Apple is offering its AppleCare Protection Plan for the Apple TV. The $50 protection plan extends the set-top box’s one-year hardware warranty to two years, and also similarly extends telephone technical support. According to Apple, the plan also extends coverage to iTunes, an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station, and Time Capsule. The AppleCare Protection Plan for Apple TV is available now to all Apple TV owners who purchased their unit within the last year.

ummm, I happen to work for Apple and know that AppleCare for the AppleTV has been available since it’s release March of last year.

Yeah, I’m not sure where this story came from but AppleTV AppleCare has been around since its release.
As for the pricing. $50 on a $229 product is ridiculous. Apple should’ve just linked it with your Mac AppleCare like they do with the Airport Extreme/Time Capsule.

APP for the AppleTV has been available here in Australia since the product’s release early last year. It retails here for A$69 and has the product code MA937FE/A.
I have no idea why the US wouldn’t have had this product until now? We’ve had it here the whole time.

Yeah I bought mine the day I got it, since it basically runs as hot as the sun I thought it a wise Idea.
