I’m guessing for that kind of money you’re only get 128MB of memory (256MB TOPS) in the shuffle clone.  On the nano clone, I’m guessing 256MB, maybe 512MB.

That’s not very many songs, and you can get better brand players of that size for about the same money.

One photo on the website shows that it’s 1 GB, which is not surprising because flash memory is really cheap now.

Apple 2G shuffle:
1.07 x 1.62 x 0.41 in
Weight: 0.55 ounce

Knock-off:
1.14 x 1.69 x 0.51 in
Weight: 3.72493037664 oz (?!!)

So only a tad bigger but note the HUGE weight difference! Not sure if that’s a mistake but if it isn’t, the clone is REALLY heavy.

It does say it’s a 1gb shuffle, but i still wouldn’t buy one. no dock, crappy earbuds, and I’m sure the battery will last about 30 seconds and need to be recharged. Maybe a good toy for my 6 year old, but i wouldn’t trust is as far as i could throw it.  Remember what your daddy told ya…“You get what you pay for!!”

Still want to know why ipods are so expensive???  Quality!! That, and Steve Jobs is still looking for that 4th summer home in Hawaii.

I agree w/John_KC about getting what you pay for.  Also, are these little things going to be mac compatible?  The price point and 2g capacity are tempting, but for those of you shopping, I advise sticking with a Mac product.

I think only apple branded products only work with iTunes. Also, this is scary, because if our government is allowing this, then companies can sell it to the majority PC crowd.

I’m in the iPod industry, manufacturing accessory in China.

Although I haven’t seen 2G shuffle clones yet, I’ve seen many iPod clones in department stores in China.

Note that while these MP3 players basicly do the job, the actual quality is plain crap. Chinese engineers a fast when it comes to copying products, but they have little to no understanding of quality products or user experience.

Unfortunately Apple might have a problem to stop this manufacturer from offering their iPod clones, as the website is operated and orders get fulfilled from Shenzhen, China.

Well, I just bought one.  I’ll let you know how it goes when (if?) it arrives.  Worst case I just lost $20.  No big deal - that’s like a couple beer.

that is nothing!

i am in beijing right now, and yesterday i saw in an actual computer accessories department store a knock-off so good, it’s almost the real thing. Even the plexi box was copied like the apple original’s.
The only obvious way of telling it’s a fake wasn’t even the ipod itself but the product description inside the box that was slightly out of focus… kind of bad print.

They immediatley said it’s a copy, so they’re not trying to sell it as the real thing.

Price could also have been around 20 dollars.

Well it looks like they have stopped selling any more:

“As some customers are concerned about this particular MP3 unit infringing on iPod’s Shuffle player, we are stopping from selling this unit any further. Received orders will be shipped normally.”

Probably just as well - looks like the earphone jack was 2.5mm instead of 3.5mm, so you’d have to buy (after searching for) the special headphones.
