Mix: Wood iPod, iPod flea, Big media, RSS backlash

Joshua Driggs has constructed a terrific replacement iPod faceplate out of African Padauk wood. He has posted several photos of the “wooden iPod” and explained the building process.

Scott Kelby and his KW Media staff have created a hilarious Apple parody video for a super tiny iPod called the “iPod flea.”

The New York Times has an article on the mainstream media adopting podcasting. “The ruling media elite are quickly adopting the methodology and technology of the insurgency, attempting to co-opt something that was meant to tip them over. This time, the revolution will be televised, broadcast and published.”

With Apple’s leap into podcasting, “leaders in the RSS community, including the standard’s own creator, are taking Apple to task for developing an ill-advised DTD without seeking input and guidance from the community.”

iPod Flea movie is great satire about the unceasing flow of accessories (some ridiculous, IMO) for the iPod…

damnit! I want to view the iFlea video but it won’t play

bleh, if it did not come in freakin’ WMV I might even be able to watch it.

That wooden iPod is excellent, but I doubt the clickwheel still works (for scrolling). Must have taken dozens of hours…

I’d like to know if that guy can still ‘scroll’ with that wooden ‘Clickwheel’. Needless to say that the finnished Product ROCKS!

i think it’s a great idea and it’s a really good replica, but i think it looks better without the 10 gallons of polish on it, making it look like fake wood on cheap cars

This mod is discussed here...

Hats off to Mr. Driggs! Looks BEAUTIFUL, although I agree with Lozz_The_Reverand that it probably would look even better without the polish ...

I guess Kirby is making lots of moolah from his publishing ventures to have the time necessary to make spoofs like this?

Why does me comment not show up?

BTW, I would strongly advise iPodlounge to put a format marker behind media links (like this *link* [format]) to avoid frustration as with this WMV case. WMV & WMA are absolutely not bamboocha and the easier to avoid them the better.

DON’T POST WMV FORMAT!!! Dammit, can’t even watch it…

THAT was funny. iFlea…killer spoof.

Bad Beaver: why would anyone who willingly publishes to Quicktime pick on Apple?  It figures that someone who uses a MSFT format would parody an Apple product.

flatline response,
if you want your material to be seen, you should use a format as easy to access as possible. That should in this case be MPEG, and pure MPEG at that, not encapsuled in any container format.
