ISkin eXo: Next generation protection for the new iPods announced.

TORONTO, Canada—June 23, 2003- ackNOWLEDGE today announced that it will soon ship a completely redesigned, next generation iSkin protector for the new generation Apple iPods. Called the iSkin eXo, it is designed to offer all-round external surface protection, without compromising the usability, size or aesthetic qualities of the iPod.

The iSkin eXo is made from a premium quality silicone that is soft to the touch yet provides flexible, durable coverage with an anti-slip grip. It is available in two separate sizes and is custom molded to tailor-fit either the 10/15GB or 30GB iPod, protecting all surfaces from everyday hazards and scratches.

The iSkin eXo includes a uniquely designed removable screen protector (Shades) that inserts into the screen opening of the iSkin eXo, covering the iPod screen and protecting it from scratches. It also includes a removable belt clip that connects to a unique, first of its kind embedded metal connector.

The iSkin eXo will be available in over 25 Skin Tones (colors) that include a unique line of glow in the dark, frosted translucent and vibrant hues.

Pricing is set to start at $29.99 including a belt clip and a screen protector. The iSkin eXo is expected to begin shipping July 14th, 2003. For more information about iSkin products visit

Ya i think they do, look closely at the bottom of the picture, it looks like a hold for the dock connector.

if you go to this website ->

you can see all the features of the thing, which includes a hole for the dock + headphones…

Looks like it won’t work with the dock like the one posted on ipodlounge last week from

I just noticed your comment about using the docking with our new iSkin exo. You can -  because of the flexibility of the Japanese silicone that I used, you can pull down on the lower part of exo (touch control wheel) and expose the sync port and once charged pull it back over the sync port to its original position. I will have some photos of how to do in a day or so. And now you know how to slide exo onto your iPod, it goes through the display opening. Both ends are covered for maximum protection unlike our previous design. This is very complicated to do because it involves a 7 part mold instead of a 3 part mold. We did it all for you to give you the best case every.

These new eXo cases look absolutely marvelous. I’ll probably order from thethinkdifferent store and get the free MacLear Zip case with it.

Does an ipod with the zip case fit inside the iSkin? Also, what exactly is iskin’s website?—or

Posted by Squibbles on June 23, 2003 at 9:17 PM (CDT)

the zip case will fit around your new iPod inside of an iSkin eXo, so you can use it at night when you put your iPod to sleep or when you travel or use it to put your sync, remote and earphones in. You will love the case because it is made from ultra clear PTU which is 6 times better than PVC. Well you will see it for your self when you get your iSkin. iSkin: you have 2 site in Canada and my site in China. I am the designer and manufacturer of some of the recent iSkins and of Maclear. By the way I am open to people submitting design that they may want to manufacture and sell through our network or resellers. Let the creative juices flow

does anyone else think that the price is a total rip off ?

Posted by robert on June 24, 2003 at 12:02 PM (CDT)

That wasn’t very nice to say robert. :D
It’s not a ripoff to me, not as much as say, the Vaja cases.  Whoops, did I say that?

Will those people that were selected to test the new case for you still have the opportunity to do so?

Posted by Mirage on June 25, 2003 at 11:56 AM (CDT)

All of the 10 test drivers have been selected, if you are one of them then we will be in touch soon to let you select a color and then we will ship it to you. I will be looking for test drivers for future products, I expect to be designing and producing 4 new products every month.

Lajo, can you show us pictures of how the dock will work? and how you can slip the iPod in and out of the eXo?

Posted by CL on June 25, 2003 at 7:25 PM (CDT)

I will have it up this week on the site. Yesterday I was in Hong Kong to have some of the dealers look at the product. Without telling them how to insert the iPod they instantly inserted it the right way. I thought I would have to explain how. This was with all the dealers I meet with and their staff. Docking is as easy.  Once you have an exo in your hands you will understand.

Posted by Lajo Cymbalski on June 25, 2003 at 7:43 PM (CDT)

Lajo, have you contacted the 10 test drivers as of yet?

Posted by Mirage on July 8, 2003 at 9:28 AM (CDT)

everyone will be contacted in 10days and instructed to go to my website and select the color they want and then exo in that color will be sent to them for testing.  eXo is ready now.

Patiently waiting for that email. :)
