Following reader reports that Altec Lansing pulled its inMotion iM7 speaker systems from Apple retail stores, a company representative confirmed to iLounge that a problem with the product’s iPod door has been fixed and new units have replaced affected iM7s.
“We had discovered a few isolated issues with the inMotion iM7 door staying closed,” Altec Lansing Sr. Marketing Manager Pamela Roccabruna said. “We immediately responded and corrected the problem. The new inMotion iM7 inventory shipped from our facilities last week and should be arriving in the Apple stores very soon.”
Roccabruna said that Altec Lansing is accepting refunds/returns directly and that if a customer experiences any issues with their inMotion iM7, they are encouraged to contact Altec Lansing’s customer service at 1-800-258-3288. “Our customer service technicians will work with them to reach a solution as quickly as possible,” she said.

That’s good (I guess). I’m still curious as to how good the thing really sounds.

I recently purchased the IM7 for my 60g ipod photo. The sound is great. Simply the best I’ve heard. My only complaint is I purchased the ipod photo to display album art and photographs.
THE IM7 HAS COMPLETELY SCRATCHED THE FACE OF MY IPOD ! ! !
This is totally unacceptable. I’m really disapointed. Every time I take the unit out and put it back in, it gets new scratches. I would like to know what they plan on doing about this !
If you have the 60 gig. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNIT. I’m thinking of returning mine for fear that I soon won’t be able to see the screen.

Solution to the above. I’ve just discovered that if you remove the thin “hard” sticker affixed to the inside of the door, this will solve the scratch problems that I encountered. I removed mine and no longer have this problem. I still, however, have a scratched Ipod. Any suggestions?

Kevmule,
I was also very upset that it had scratched my iPod 60. They said I should send it in, but no guarantee how long they’d keep it or that they would even do anything at all. And the guy on the phone said (as it seems to be common for tech support) that I was the only one who had that problem. He even told me that he had an iPod 60 and no scratches.
Sorry yours is scratched, but at least I know it wasn’t me. Anyway, I sent my IM7 back for a refund, but no compensation for all the scratches!
Anyone else’s iPod scratched by their IM7?
