Altec Lansing has announced the availability of the inMotion iMV712, an all-in-one audio/video iPod speaker system. First shown at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, the iMV712 sports an 8.5-inch LCD screen, 3-inch neodymium speakers and built-in 4-inch subwoofer. The $350 system also offers a built-in Apple universal dock, Altec Lansing SFX (Stereo Field Expander) technology, wireless remote, and an Aux input jack and RCA input connections. “The iMV712 turns the iPod Video into a complete MP3 music + video multi-component entertainment system—perfectly designed for college dorm rooms, teen rooms, desktops, even the kitchen counter,” says the company.

The question is whether this unit will actually display the ipod’s screen during music playback. And of course, if it will be available in white?

That thing is sweet. If I had an office that I sat in and worked in for substantial periods of time I would be all over this.

I hope you mean home office, because unless you were the boss (or had something on him/her), likely you would be all out of there, too.

I find this to be an ABSOLUTELY ridiculous product.
If you’re buying something with an 8.5” screen, I’m pretty certain your buying it for portability. That would lead you to buy one of the several options for compact, ipod docking screens available. Some of which will also play DVDs… and even better… cost HALF THE PRICE!!!!
Anyone looking for a stationary external screen for their iPod, with $350 to spend, would surely buy something MUCH bigger then 8.5”.
