Analyst estimates iPod could convert 4% to buy Macs

“If 2% of customers who purchase an estimated 7.5 million iPods in fiscal 2005 decide to also purchase a Mac, when otherwise they would not have purchased a Mac, that would add an additional 150,000 Mac units, or 4%, to Piper Jaffray’s estimates for the year.”

I’m a new switcher. I was a diehard PC user (ever since my first IBM XT). I’ve now purchased 3 iPods (my original 3G about a year ago, a new 4G and recently a mini for my wife). The iPod definitely made me think about making the switch. In the past, I never considered it because I’m a huge gamer and there just wasn’t enough games for the Mac. However, now I have an Xbox and I haven’t bought a PC game for over a year. So, last week I bought my first Mac (12” Powerbook) and I love it. I’m thinking my next main system (desktop) will end up being a Mac as well. With the Xbox, my big reason for sticking with Windows is gone.
