Analyst sees iTV, iPhone and new iPod at Macworld Expo
New product introductions at Macworld Expo next month could include Apple’s iTV, a new iPod, and the iPhone, according to one analyst. In his latest report to clients, Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster ranks the likelihood of current Apple rumors and offers expected release dates. He gives the iPhone a certainty rank of 10 out of 10, claiming the device will enter the production phase of 12 million units within the next 2-6 months. Munster said the release of the iTV at Macworld Expo is “almost certain,” giving the rumor a 10 out 10. The analyst also said a widescreen video iPod with touch-sensitivity and wireless features is “likely,” giving the rumor a 7 out of 10 ranking.

Not sure if this is true, but hasn’t Macworld been an unlikely venue for iPod releases or updates in the past?

I think if Apple does anything ipod related it will be a new 4th style of ipod…maybe a ipod media device with a 3.5” screen, games, made for videos, sorta of like a PSP only with games as a secondary, not primary, focus. We know nothing will be done to the shuffle or the nano. The 5.5G ipods just came out and do what they are supposed to well. I think Apple wants to continue to push the 5G ipods as music first devices that ‘can’ do video….but I can see a video focused ipod but it would be a new arm of the ipod tree,it would not replace a current one.
I could see the 5.5G’s getting aluminum cases and built in FM radio…beyond that there isn’t much left to do..other than go wireless.

I predict there will be a new type of iPod that has no local storage other than a cache, but is meant to stream audio and video using 802.11g or 802.11n. It will have a generously-sized 16:9 screen. Think of it as Front Row in your hands!

how bout a mini bowser where as long as there is some kinda wifi, the ipod could pull up a read only email, or weather, or banking? Yeah you can do it on your phone but it may be a nice step to get people to buy a macbook because they like the read only browser on there ipod.

I doubt we’ll see a new iPod, it just doesn’t seem like there will be enough time to cash in ont he x-mas market. I’m hoping for an AppleT.V., just to see their take on it. Should be interesting no matter what.

I don’t understand why Apple would launch a new iPod AFTER the holiday season, they won’t make much of a profit, especially right after the holidays. If Apple was going to make a new iPod, they would’ve launched it around November or maybe December at the latest.

They introduced the 1G shuffle at the Expo but otherwise most ipods come out late summer/fall I believe.
Thats why I think if they do do something with ipod it will be a new style rather updating a current model.

My iTunes broke down, kept showing “not enough memory” alert. I downloaded 7.02 and reinstalled it. Interesting thing was, during the installation process, there was an option (disabled though) to install a phone driver..
