Apple announces “One More Thing” event for Oct. 12
Apple has announced a “One More Thing” event on October 12, 2005, at the same California Theatre venue in San Jose where the iPod photo and U2 Special Edition iPod were announced last year. The event, promoted to select media, will begin at 10:00am Pacific, and is named after the famed oratory trick of Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who uses the phrase as a prelude to a bombshell announcement at the close of a keynote speech. As contrasted with the blue jeans image used to tease the announcement of the iPod nano, the One More Thing event is promoted with a red theater-like curtain. iLounge will be on hand to provide coverage of the day’s announcements, which will come one day after the company publicly discloses its financial results on October 11.

It’s pretty obviously a video iPod, considering Jobs comments, the new agreements with Disney, oh, and the fact that the BBC News Service accidently admitted to the fact that the announcement is for the video iPod.

Do you think I should sell my 4G iPod 20Gb? I don’t want to be left hanging with no iPod if Apple doesn’t release a iPod video. If it’s not video I don’t think I would buy it so then I would only have a shuffle and I just can’t live with just a shuffle!

If it is a iPod video, then may god help us all. Unless Apple have found a way to make you dream of the movie so its “full view” blocking everything else out when you put the earphones in.

I don’t think a small screen is a problem if it has AV out. Seriously it would be awesome!

Ha. It is definately an iPod video! I know it is. If you don’t believe me just wait untill October 12 when they release it. I know a guy that knows a guy that has a pre release prototype. I know that sounds stupid but it is real. And if it ain’t then I will make a big ### out of myself but that won’t happen!
Get ready for iPod video!

Personally I think it’s going to be an iPDA (or Newton 2) running a scaled down version of OSX, featuring a mobile version of iTunes, Quicktime (so videos will be a possibility), iChat and Safari. It will have wifi, bluetooth and full colour touch screen. Probably gonna be around A5 size.
Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking…

wishful thinking.
A friend of mine works for a UK apple store… the talk there is that there will be new powerbooks, new eMacs and an iPod Video. No mention of iPDA or Newton 2s.
Im willing to bet my friend is right… even though nothing is confirmed yet.
Wednesday is coming.

Mate, not to be harsh, but your friend is bullshitting you. No-one but the iPod devision and Steve knows what will be released, and of course, that is if it is a new iPod.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m gagging for a video iPod, with 80GB as I’ve run out of space on my 60 and my year warranty will run out soon. Its just the ‘talk’ you mentioned, will purely be what they think it might be, so you’re better off thinking for yourself.
The only people I’d believe are people like Hayden, and even then, because I don’t know Hayden, what repuatation he has, I’m inclined not to beleive him.
There is one guy ‘podfuture’ who posts on applesinsider(?) who just registered an account, and a week before the nano was released, he got it spot on, almost EVERYTHING, people didn’t beleive him and looks like they are eating hats now…He’s now talking about a video iPod. That is the only reason I think there is a video iPod on the way. That plus all the stuff thats been happening, curtains on the invite, BBC getting involved, lack of music videos being added for the past month, video buttons being present since iTunes 4.8(?), users reporting iTunes saying a new update is available (5.0.2/5.2) but doesn’t let them download.
Heres to hoping, I really want a video iPod, but just because some guy at an Apple store says something, it means nothing.

You Know What I THink!
it’s gonna be a video ipod because the screen doesn’t really matter. My friends kept saying the ipod sucks because it has no video playback. Then they go buy some crappy iriver and only listen to music. When i ask them why not put in any movies? They said the screen’s too small. It’s pretty dumb to do that…
5G iPod
-Blutooth earphones
-wifi access
-Toshiba’s new ‘perpendicular’ something… hardrive which supports up to 80GB but smaller than the one used in 40GB 4G iPod.
-Firewire 800 compatibility
-Wireless remote
-Interchangeable battery
-scratch proof finish (but still transparent white)
-Blutooth earphone-sunglasses supplied
-Laser pointer
-Water proof (With water proof earphones as optional)
-100hrs battery!!!!
-half as think as 20GB 4G iPod
-SMS (sudden Motion sensor)
-touch screen (but still has click wheel)
-And VIDEO!!!!!!!!
Maybe also a hologram!!!!
What more could you ask from a 5G iPod?

By MC on 10.07.05 at 07:41 AM”
I don’t think anyone around here has made the connection yet: A Madonna video iPod wouldn’t primarily have all her songs on it—> it would have all her music videos.
I’m not a fan, but who better to front a (mass-public) portable music video player than Madonna?
