Apple has announced a “One More Thing” event on October 12, 2005, at the same California Theatre venue in San Jose where the iPod photo and U2 Special Edition iPod were announced last year. The event, promoted to select media, will begin at 10:00am Pacific, and is named after the famed oratory trick of Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who uses the phrase as a prelude to a bombshell announcement at the close of a keynote speech. As contrasted with the blue jeans image used to tease the announcement of the iPod nano, the One More Thing event is promoted with a red theater-like curtain. iLounge will be on hand to provide coverage of the day’s announcements, which will come one day after the company publicly discloses its financial results on October 11.

A lot of people are saying they won’t buy one, but if it’s the same price as 4G and they cut those out, people will buy one, and maybe just not use any new feature.

I agree with Al regarding iMovie, the last useable version was 3. iMovie 4 & HD have too many issues with regards to syncronisation between audio and video. there is something very wrong with the timecode/smpte to the point I can’t even use it to make a movie anymore :(
Sadly QA testing doesn’t seem to be high on Apple’s priority anymore.

iPod video. Its inevitable, I just hope to god they put a video out line in it. Noone wants to watch movies on a 2inch screen, but having your entire movie collection in your pocket to plug into any tv…. interesting. The screen must get bigger too, of course we all have bus/plane/any journeys where itd be nice to watch the latest episode of the Simpsons on the spot

Well for us here in Australia we think Steve Jobs will also release the iTunes Music Store for Australia ... COZ WE DONT HAVE IT YET!!!  But then again neither do a lot of countries.  It has been created, just not released!!!

A video iPod is highly unlikely. I won’t even watch a movie on my son’s PSP… Apple just released the nano, they won’t intoduce a device to compete with nano sales just before the holidays. Expect something more along the lines of a new Mac with enhanced video capabilities. iTMS will have movie downloads to go along with it.

It wont be an iPod, not even apple would release something to compete with the nano this early, best bet i reckon is the dual core 970MP G5’s thinksecret has been talking about…maybe its just wishful thinking, but come on who doesnt want a 60-90% increase in powermac performance!!!!

Disney may be the catalyst with new CEO Iger being more Apple friendly than Eisner and a strategic change positioning the company to push digital delivery of creative content.

Guaranteed it’s an iPod video or a 5G iPod.  Apple will never hold a special media event just for a PowerBook or PowerMac update.  These products are normally unveiled during the big expos like MacWorld SF or the WWDC.  Plus, with Apple pushing MacIntels, they will not make that big of a deal of PowerBook/Mac updates unless it’s an Intel based Mac.  Another thing pointing toward a video iPod, notice how the music video page hasn’t been updated at all during the past month?  They used to do it every single week.  That is definitely a sign of something going on.

I’d be happy with a 6 gig Nano. I have a 4 gig mini, but since I’m getting pressed for space, it didn’t seem logical to run out and get a 4 gig Nano.

It was rumoured in sites about Madonna that there will be a Madonna iPod before the year ends. The U2 Ipod was released in the same place one year ago.

Now an IPOD with a replaceable Lithion Ion battery would be the best ever.

This is a great news, but what I had not liked is the fact that is: “One More Thing…”

So.. it will be only “one” more thing, and not “two”?
So, supose it is a new Ipod video, woldn’t come a new Itunes? (that is two more things).

i hope that this “one more thing…” was a mistake of words, or something that was done to cach attention of the people.

But, red curtains (as read before here) means movies (video) to me.

I just bougt a 60Gb Ipod… but I need a 120gb player..

i_have_a_face > a video iPod and the iPod nano are two different products aimed at different areas of the market. I really cant understand why people cant grasp that concept. Following your thinking apple should just have one product and one product only.
Billy Gun > I suspect iTunes 5 is already configured for any new iPod. It only came out recently and any iPod, video or not wasnt just created from scratch in the last few weeks. iTunes 5 already has video built in

right on winders ! Why people keep ranting about a *small screen*? don’t you use headphones to listen to your music?

vPod, but bet it’s going to be 500+ territory, maybe 100gig ?

Thinksecret -  a highly reliable source on inside Apple info, has reported that the event will be used to launch new PowerMac’s and PowerBooks.
I’m hoping for a new iPod though as I’ve just sold my 60gigger, but if the new PowerBooks have an improved (HD) screen I’ll be just as chuffed…..
Looks like the waiting game will be kept full of speculation if it will be an iPod launch or a Mac computer launch….
Personally I think it will be an iPod. I’ve never known Apple to use a drop-of-the-hat special event to launch a Mac….
