Apple has announced yet another delay for the white iPhone 4, reports Reuters, noting that the company provided no details as to why the product remains unavailable. The white iPhone, which has variously reported to have suffered production delays related to light leakage and miscoloration of glass or button components, is now scheduled to be released in Spring 2011—curiously just before what has annually been a Summer refresh of iPhone hardware. It was previously delayed from June until July, then from July until late 2010, before receiving the latest setback. “We’re sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone again,” Apple’s Trudy Muller told Reuters, without making further comment.

White iPhone ... as elusive as a Himalayan Yeti.

They might as well just wait ‘til the next iPhone is released and release it then, provided it is ready…

Let this be a lesson to apple, who usually avoids such disasters. DON’T ANNOUNCE A PRODUCT IF YOU DON’T HAVE IT READY TO SHIP!
If you can’t deliver a product in the time frame you promise it and are not 100% sure it will be ready, it would be a colossal mistake to promise it to your customers and run the risk of not fulfilling that promise. Especially when your customers are as loyal as apple customers are.
Apple’s customers tend to have high expectations of the company. Usually apple meets or exceeds our expectations, but, occasionally, they fall short. This white iPhone 4 is a perfect example.
My girlfriend wanted the white iPhone 4 but when I told her they were going to be delayed, she opted for the black model, deciding waiting was not worth it. Man is she ever glad she made that decision 2 months ago. She would be so pissed right now if she had waited only to find out that it won’t be available for another 6 months, MAYBE!
These issues end up causing a lot of doubt surrounding apple and it’s ability to deliver to it’s customers. In the end the company has lost some credibility, which could cost them in the future.

Well, drichards, the same happened to me except that my wife decided to wait until the white iPhone is released… The net result is that she is still waiting for the gift I promised her back in June. I really should never have trusted Apple.
