nano is out-dated now. Apple is clearing out the nano stock.

What are you talking about dts? They had this deal twice before, and sure when it was on during the 3rd gen release it was near the end of the 3rd gen’s life, but then the 4th came out, and the same deal was on for about a month or so. I doubt the nano is out of date, they’re just trying to make room for the larger capacity versions.

This is mainly about selling laptops, not clearing iPods.

this is great news! i was planning on getting a new macbook real soon, and this is icing on the cake! I have a 60 GB video, and have always wanted a nano since. I love its small form factor. Now i can get a nano, for free!! W00T!

Dts,
I hardly doubt that the nano is out of date, but even if it was, this is a great deal. Who wouldn’t want a free iPod. Plus, you can sell it on ebay and make a nice profit =D

Well obviously its about selling laptops because they are giving away the nano for free. This is a very smart move by Apple because it will help influence people to buy Macs since they now run windows, linux, and mac osx and if you buy a Mac you get a nano for free. Everybody wants a nano so if you are going to buy a laptop you might as well buy the mac so you get a ipod for free.

Is the $176 rebate on top of the $100 EDU discount you already get on Macbooks?

ariza, it is on top of the 100 dollar edu discount.
Dts, the rebate can be used with any iPod, not just a nano so if you think it is outdated, (i agree, it is due for an update), you can still purchase a 30 or 60 gb ipod for 179 less than the edu price (269 and 369.)

...of course it´s about selling macs, but it´s also, as dts said, about clearing out the nano stock… (Apple know that the nano must be replaced by something new and exciting to the upcoming holiday season. I myself are daydreaming about the return of iPod mini - thinner and flashier)

Yes! I’ve been thinking of that too. A nano sized mini. If they could bump it up to 6 or 7g I would even consider buying that!

I ordered mine yesterday. This promotion does not apply to the U2 Ipod Video. Other than that, its a great deal. Oh, you can also get a $99 mail in rebate for a printer on top of this deal.
