Apple Lightning to Micro USB Adapter now available in North America

Apple has released its Lightning to Micro USB Adapter (seen in our First Look here) in North America. Priced at $19, the adapter was originally available only in Europe due to a European Union directive requiring Micro USB compatibility for smartphone charging. The new Adapter allows users to connect a Lightning connector-equipped iPhone, iPod touch or iPad to a computer or power source using a standard Micro USB connection, however it is worth noting that the adapter sells for the same price as Apple’s Lightning to USB Cable, making it a practical option only for those with a specific need to use a Micro USB connection.

It looks like the Ipad mini shipped with an issue. I bought 1 two days ago and it stopped charging yesterday. If I plugged just the cable in to my MacBook pro it would tell it the device could not charge because it needed more power then the usb outlet could give. Funny thing is I plugged just the cable in with out the ipad mini. So to me it looks like a bunch of cable got shipped flawed. I brought my Ipad mini back to best buy and they have to exchange the whole ipad because they have no sync cables in stock. Best Buy tech also told me I was like the 6th person to return an Ipad mini for the same reason. Talked with Tech at Apple Store across the street and he told me the same thing lots of charging and syncing issues. They think it’s a bad cable too.
