Apple Music Service features
The buzz of the day seems to be Apple’s rumored new music service. There have been several reports of the new service from various news agencies in the past weeks. We have compiled a list of features said to be available with the new service:
- Available only for Apple computers (may change)
- No subscription required
- Each song costs about .99 cents to download
- Albums cost about $10 to download
- Purchase and download songs via updated iTunes using 1-click ordering
- Songs available in AAC (Advanced Audio Codec) format
- Sync songs to iPod or burn to CD
- Exclusive downloads from Artists
- Use with up to 3 Macs

Does this news that AAC format is available mean that we will get a new iTunes and a software update for the iPod. We also need a batch updater for existing mp3’s

Yes, the rumor is that there will be an updated iTunes which support AAC and 1-click ordering. I’m not sure if they would provide a batch processor for MP3 > AAC, let’s hope so.

Converting MP3 to AAC is not useful really. To take full advantage of the AAC format you would have to reimport your music from your CD’s into iTunes (if your music was from a CD).

Nobody seems to mention the cost of the .Mac account (required for Apple Music Service). It is 100/yr. Am I missing something?
To tell the whole thruth they say “Apple ID or .Mac account required”. Is any of those free?
