As of the time of this writing, 16GB Wi-Fi only refurbished units are priced at $299—although currently out of stock—while 32GB units sell for $399 and 64GB models are priced at $499, with the latter pair listed as in stock and shipping within 24 hours. Wi-Fi + 3G models are also available and sell for a $100 premium over their Wi-Fi only counterparts.

What does everyone think about “refurb” products, in particular (obviously) from Apple as mentioned in this article. I do a ton of reading on my iPhone 4 at night when I can’t sleep, and anyone who has tried reading a true PDF file (or webpages… anything not made with the intent to be read on such a tiny screen) knows it can really strain your eyes and neck and just get uncomfortable very quickly.
Back on point, I have never purchased anything refurbished in my life, since, like most people… well, it almost seems a nasty word that people equate to “used”, “much shorter lifespan”, “possibly one of only a few months”—getting really worrisome when the manufacturer provides no warranty on these products, or some really short one, maybe 3-6 months; certainly not long enough to placate my worries of premature demise.
Then I have to live with the regret of “If I’d just have not been a cheapo and paid an extra hundred or two dollars, I could’ve gotten a brand new one!”—booting myself from behind.
Anyone here who has bought refurb equipment, even better—anyone who has bought several refurbished electronics that could give me the low-down reality-based expectation one would likely see from say… a refurbished iPad? That seems convenient right now.
