Apple offers $100 credit to iPhone early buyers

Responding to widespread anger from early purchasers of the iPhone over $200 price cuts announced yesterday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs today published an open letter offering a $100 Apple Store credit to any customer who purchased an iPhone at its original $499 or $599 price points, and is not already receiving a rebate or other compensation from the company. Jobs simultaneously explained the company’s reasons for the price cut, apologized, and acknowledged its need to “do the right thing for our valued iPhone customers.”
“There is always change and improvement, and there is always someone who bought a product before a particular cutoff date and misses the new price or the new operating system or the new whatever,” explained Jobs. “This is life in the technology lane.”
“[E]ven though we are making the right decision to lower the price of iPhone,” Jobs continued, “and even though the technology road is bumpy, we need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price. Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these.”
According to Jobs, details of the $100 credit “are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple’s website next week.” The credit will be available through Apple retail or online locations.

Yes I don’t usually post to this or any other forum. But I am one person who bought a Iphone early. Did I know the price was going to come down? Yes. I did not want to WAIT so I paid the asking price. Did I feal cheated with the price drop? Yes.
Some people do not realize Apple is a busniess and will be run like a busness. I like the company and there products and I like the way they take care of the product after the sale.
The 100 credit was a way of showing Steve is listening. Was the price drop to much and to fast for my wallet? Yes. But that is the price you and I payed to be the FIRST with this product.
Those of you like myself who missed the price drop should just be thankful that we will get anything back and move on. I like my phone, I still like Apple products and I will still buy them and be satisfied with what I PAYED FOR THEM or I will not buy them at all!
A hard and fast rule that I and others do not always follow is NEVER buy the first of any product. If we we choose not to follow this then we have know one to blame but ourselves.

Uhm, actually, it isn’t brilliant it’s just usual business behavior. But what do they think?

Happy?? They rip off all of us who stood in line for hours, and you people are happy over $100. I want $300, $200 for the phone and $100 for the hassel and I want it in cash. Thats what I gave them.
