MacMinute reports: “The iTunes Volume Discount Program allows companies and educational institutions to purchase iTunes Music Store download codes in bulk, which can then be distributed and redeemed for free music. There is a minimum purchase requirement of 25,000 song downloads for commercial entities and 10,000 volume song downloads for educational institutions. ... The company revealed that it is able to offer discounts of as much as 20 percent off the standard 99 cent pricing for certain bulk purchase levels.”
So much for Apple’s “10 cents a song” profit margin on iTunes songs. MacMinute also notes that Apple is offering new iTunes encoding and marketing tools to music companies.

> You already spent over $300 for 20gb with the iriver, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you made another economically retarded purchase.
You got that for damn straight there!
The new Archos Gmini 400 makes the iPod and the iRiver look tired, old and busted!

So where did all the highschool pansies come from in this thread ? Mac vs PC is such a dead issue. If any of you idiot s had half a brain you would have a PC and a Mac and enjoy the benefits of both platforms. Shutup and go back to popping your zits.

I’ve never even heard of Archos before… I’ll wait a few years to buy any of their products until a decent word-of-mouth occurs about them.

“I’ve never even heard of Archos before”
Archos brought out a hard disk mp3 player 2 years before Apple’s iPod. It was butt ugly and huge as a brick but it was among the first.
Generally speaking Archos products are early to market, bleeding edge technologies, but not as refined as later imitators like Apple or Dell. Archos’s focus on the bleeding edge also causes them to release with dodgy quality, and fail to fix their current products in favour of going on to the “next cool thing”.

You folks sound like a bunch of grumpy old men. Are you all grandchildren of Archie Bunker? Why do you even come onto this site if all you can do is piss and moan about everything?

PINK IPODS TO MATCH YOUR PINK PANTIES
Yes the PC Vs Mac debate is dead, they are both still here and they will continue to be in the future
One more thing, there is no question that the best mp3 player is… iPod end of debate
unless you a super geek and want a color screen or the biggest HD the iPod is the best out there hands down
Go apple, offering discounts mean that they are making a good profit margin from the iTunes music store!

I wish the Archos player or iRiver or iWhatever player would become more popular so they can make their own iRiver Lounge or something.
Until then (maybe never):

So much for Apple’s “10 cents a song” profit margin on iTunes songs.
Apple could be asking the labels to take a hit.

Let’s see - all of those “forums” are either official company sites, yahoo forum sites or nonspecific mp3 player sites. I’d like to see you create “ArchosLounge” or “iRiverLounge” and see how many hits you get or if you even get any advertising to pay for the bandwith. What a joke. Don’t even make me list the iPod sites.
And furthermore - if these sites are so great, why don’t you post your trolly-crap there where someone might appreciate your trolly-crap.

What’s wrong with Yahoo sites? I think it’s nice that you can get dozens of different forums for products or sports you like. And we haven’t even got to MSN Communities or Tripod sites or About.com…
And I noticed that the Rockbox site is all about Archos, is pretty damn cool, and is definitely not corporate. If I could have the features of the Rockbox in new iPod firmware then I would be super happy!
