Apple posts ‘coming soon’ Pepsi-iTunes giveaway

Apple has posted a ‘coming soon’ page for its Pepsi-iTunes 100 million song giveaway. You can sign up to be notified when the giveaway launches on February 1, 2004. “Watch for our ads during the Superbowl. 100 million songs. 1 in 3 wins.” It seems that you can either purchase Pepsi or Sierra Mist for a chance to win, as indicated by the icons in the lower left.

Psst, Sierra Mist is a Pepsi product.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mountain Dew have the same promotion.

From what I’ve heard, Pepsi and MD have seperate marketing divisions, and it’s not going to be affected by this campaign.

If it is though, then great, as this is about the only Pepsi brand I will touch…

Sierra mist is like a crappy 2nd place generic lime soda.

Remember you can redeem yellow caps through April 30, even after they’re gone from the shelves. So switch to Pepsi for a short while and stock up for April too!

I wonder… can you combine several caps towards an album purchase, or is it “one cap per purchase” which would encourage buying only singles? (Granted, getting an album free as singles is nice too—but it would take fewer caps—and clicks—if you could pay the lower album price.)

I would guess that the codes would work identically to gift certificates.  OTOH, I don’t know how the gift certificates work.

i recall someone saying (may have been a steve jobs speech) that each winning cap will just credit your account with 99 cents.

If it credits your account, then it will definitely be possible to save up to 10 dollars or how much the album cost and buy it.  Woot woot, Be sure that I’ll be standing next to the garbage/recyle bin doing my homework..waiting for people to throw away their pepsi bottles.  I might even post ads saying i’ll pay 25 cents for each winning caps on my floor in my dorm hall.

From the rules, it’s 20 oz and 1 litre bottles of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Sierra Mist, along with select 32 ounce lids from 7-11 stores. I usually buy 2 litres of Mountain Dew for the house. *grumble*

I usually drink Coke, but like it was suggested in an earlier comment, I may just have to switch for a while.

Hmmmmmmmm, free muuusssiicc!
