Apple has posted details of its iPhone 4 case program. According to the webpage, iPhone 4 users who want to receive a free case need to download the free iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store. Once the app is installed, users need to login with their iTunes Store account or Apple ID. The app checks the device’s IMEI and serial number to verify that the user indeed does own an iPhone 4, and lets the user choose an iPhone 4 Bumper or another case. Apple notes that for iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, users must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, they must apply within 30 days of the iPhone 4 purchase. Oh and another thing: The ONLY Bumper they offer via the app is black! WHAT a rip off! (Again!)

I just ordered mine using the app.
I didn’t want a Bumper anyway b/c: there are no ‘clear’ ones and all of them cover the now infamous metal band - which incidentally is the nicest looking part of the entire i4! I’m personally HATING the flattened rectangle design! My 3GS looked AND felt better, especially for someone like myself who has the thing in my hands the majority of each day. “I” think they went rectangle-rogue in order to fit the metal band on. Well, isn’t THAT ironic?

I tend to disagree with dOiTdiGiTaL. I think the feel of the iP4 is a major improvement over my 3GS. I will not say he is “wrong” though. The feel of a phone is very subjective. The iP4 just feels better in my hand.
With that said, I am also not a fan of the Bumper from Apple. It is not attractive and hardly functional. And those are the only two reasons to have a case (other than to make your antenna work). I chose the clear snapcase. It covers the metal band while still showing of the nice aesthetic of the phone as a whole. I was pleased with the selection of cases offered. I had expected maybe a Bumper or one silicon case or one shell case. The choices were pretty nice for a group of freebies.
