Apple releases iTunes 8.2 ahead of iPhone OS 3.0
Apple has released iTunes 8.2, the latest version of its digital media management software. According to Apple’s release notes, iTunes 8.2 supports “iPhone or iPod touch with the iPhone 3.0 Software Update,” and also includes “many accessibility improvements and bug fixes.” In April, Apple began providing registered iPhone developers with a pre-release version of iTunes 8.2, which was required to activate the later beta versions of iPhone OS 3.0. iTunes 8.2 is available now through Apple’s Software Update utility or as a free download from apple.com/itunes.

I think I will be holding off until the whole downloading applications to the iPhone deal is explained better. Apple has a history of killing user-friendly features in iTunes.
From Wikipedia, “Library sharing was first introduced with iTunes 4.0, where users could freely access shared music anywhere over the Internet, in addition to one’s own subnet, by specifying IP addresses of remote shared song libraries. Apple quickly removed this feature with version 4.0.1, claiming that users were violating the End User License Agreement.”

@Khedan
I haven’t tried but I would have to say yes, considering that v3.0 isn’t even (publicly) available yet.

My guess is now the Palm Pre won’t work with iTunes when it launches. Never before has iTunes been updated before a major announcement. Coincidence, I don’t think so!

I think the Palm Pre is going to be a sad competitor to the iPhone once the new iPhone is announced/ released. Apple is not dumb enough to let Palm show them up.

Apple support have told me not to download 8.2 on a jailbroken iphone 3g, and that doing so could critically damage the phone.
Is this correct?
