Apple resellers claim iPod discontinuations
Citing sources from Apple Authorized Resellers, Ars Technica reports that the entire current lineup of iPods has been discontinued. Stock of the current screened iPods, announced and released last September, is dwindling, with no more expected to come in; the fate of the third-generation iPod shuffle, released earlier this year, is unclear. Apple is reportedly planning a special event for early September—possibly as soon as Sept. 9—to introduce updated models, which sources have previously said will include camera upgrades for both the iPod nano and iPod touch.

I heard that apple is just going to stop making ipods this year. Sell old models online at a higher price and bring them back big time once the economy picks up in 2011.

Rumor has it President Obama plans to sign an Executive Order outlawing any MP3 player which lacks graphic EQ, so Apple has decided to take its ball and go home!

@Fanman: I think Paul’s just making a joke about the ignorant rumors being spread about the current health care bills being passed around. With the wealth of ridiculous fairy tales being passed around as truth by the right-wing media, it’s no stretch to believe the government’s getting involved with ensuring the death of the MP3 player market, too.
That being said, September 9th is lining up to be one heck of a day for Apple! Normally I couldn’t care less about a company’s product announcement day, but there’s so much rumor about what’s gonna happen…
