Apple signals post-sell-out iPad reservations, pre-orders still open

Apple has begun to hand out promotional iPad cards at its retail stores that suggests the company is preparing for a sell-out of launch day iPad reservations. The card offers instructions on how to reserve an iPad for pickup, telling customers to visit, select the store they wish to pick it up from, and choose their iPad model—16, 32, or 64GB. It then states that Apple will send the customer “an email with the date [their] iPad will be ready for pickup,” instead of saying the device would be ready on April 3. The card also references free shipping for iPad pre-orders, which can be made online at

no big mystery. these handouts are meant for use ongoing and not just launch day. Thus no ‘pick it up on April 3’ cause then they would end up destroying a big stack of leftovers on that day. They actually mean nothing plus or minus about first day sales or expectations

now, you find reports of folks getting emails right now that they will have a unit ready Apr 5 and after and you’ve got something to talk about.

Go to Apple website. They now say any preorder will be available around April 12. Launch Day sell-out MAYBE?
