Apple has scheduled a “Big Apple”-themed “education announcement” media event in New York City for January 19, 2012, sending out a digital invitation featuring a chalkboard image of the Manhattan skyline with an Apple logo in the middle of skyscrapers.

The event is expected to focus on iTunes, the iBookstore, and possibly textbook sales in the iTunes Store.

This is on my wishlist for ibooks and the ibookstore:
I would love to see alternate language dictionaries available for use in ibooks.  It would be especially great for both native and non-native speakers to read the many available texts in other languages, and still have built-in dictionary support.  That could be an in app purchase that I would be willing to pay for.  I have (others too) suggested this to apple, and I hope it will be a possibility someday.
