Apple Store SF to offer “lucky bags” at grand opening

“To celebrate the grand opening of Apple Computer’s new Union Square store in San Francisco, 200 shoppers will be given a dubious opportunity—spend $250 for the chance to win a new iPod mini.

On Saturday morning, the first few hundred people through the door will have a chance to buy a $250 “lucky bag,” which may or may not contain one of the company’s popular, just-released miniature music players. [...]

Priced at $250, nearly the same price as the iPod mini itself, the lucky bags contain seven or eight items worth a total of $600 to $1,000, Johnson [Apple senior vice president of retail] said.”

Why not just buy the iPod mini for $250, instead of buying some ‘lucky’ bag that MAY contain the iPod mini?

that’s what makes it a lucky bag. You can either buy it for 250 or take your chances with the lucky bag.

It’s the thrill of the gamble, plus ... even if you don’t get the mini iPod, you may get $1000 worth of stuff.

If the “lucky bag” is returnable then I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

I think that’s a great idea. If I could go, I’d try to get one of them just for the chance to get hundreds of dollars worth of Apple stuff. You know you’re getting a deal anyway.

If you’re un-lucky, you get an iPod mini.  If you’re lucky, you probably get an iBook. :P

I wonder if the $1000 worth of stuff is in the form of coupons, such as $50 off the purchase of an iPod or something to that extent.

it probably contains a pack of condoms some lubricant and probably some sex toys for your nights staying at a nearby hotel during the SF apple event, either that or top of the line inflatable doll, and if your a female you get the     D I L D O MASTER 5000 which is around 1000$ worth…so you pretty much win…
