Apple teases iTunes announcement, coming tomorrow at 10 am ET/7 am PT

Apple has posted a large image on its homepage, teasing an upcoming announcement regarding iTunes. The graphic reads, “Tomorrow is just another day. That you’ll never forget,” and instructs users to check back tomorrow “for an exciting announcement from iTunes.” Underneath the text is a series of clocks, used to indicate the timing of the announcement—7:00 a.m. in California, 10:00 a.m. in New York, 3:00 p.m. in London, and Midnight in Tokyo—which suggests that the announcement will be of an international nature instead of being limited to just one country.

I think its obvious.  They’ve secretly updated iOS 4.2 for iPad prior to release to have a clock app.  /sarcasm

“Grampa… where where you when Apple announced some stupid thing no one really cares about?”

“Well… the year was twenty-ot-ten, it was November, yup, November 16. Taylor Swift was spinning on our Zunes, er, no, back then we all still had iPods… anyway, it was still back in the first of Obama’s seven terms in office, right before the great corn syrup uprising and the great Twitter wars. Many good men were lost, oh yes they were… anyway… that was the day, Apple announced some dumb crap no one cares about… and boy, was that a day I will never forget. Never.”

Maybe tomorrow will be the day that iTunes becomes a big bloated mess of a program. No, wait a minute . . .

When is Apple’s corruption of sentence structure and grammatically incorrect releases going to stop? That headline smacks of an illiterate copywriter (and since Steve Jobs approves everything, it smacks of an illiterate CEO).

Apple once again proves it likes to “think different.”

Maybe I am just being naive, but I’ll remain optimistic that the annoucement will be interesting and positive.

This is kind of a weird one for Apple. Typically, a hardware announcement gets sent out a week or two in advance. Would Apple really use a tease like this for iOS 4.2? If it is, I wouldn’t call it an “internation day of Apple”-type event. Most major iOS updates (i.e. 3.x to 4.x) don’t even get an announcement, let alone incremental updates (i.e. 4.1 to 4.2). What’s going on?

Gotta be cloud services. Probably iTunes libraries in the cloud… but only for songs purchased through the iTMS.

Probably announcing they will start charging for iTunes. Like I would be willing to pay for that piece of crap.

It’s The Beatles.  That’s my guess.  Tomorrow Never Knows.  It’s Just Another Day. Not Yesterday but Tomorrow.

I’m thinking that, since it’s not a press release, we won’t be seeing any hardware roll outs or anything that needs a lot of explaining (like cloud services).

Likewise I don’t see the Beatles going digital without an enormous amount of fanfare.

My money is on a subscription service and/or apps for the Mac.
