Apple has revealed that it will begin taking online orders for the Verizon iPhone February 9. In a press release reminding current Verizon Wireless customers that they can pre-order the iPhone 4 beginning tomorrow from either Verizon’s or Apple’s websites, Apple also said that “all qualified customers will be able to order an iPhone 4 on Verizon through the Apple Store for delivery or reserve for in-store pick up beginning February 10.” In addition, Apple’s retail stores will be opening at 7:00 a.m. local time on February 10 for sales of the CDMA device. Apple notes that due to high demand, orders will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis.

iPhone are not available to all 94 million Verizon customers, at least not now. Verizon is charging $144 per line for early termination of the contract. My wife and I wait until February of 2012 at the earliest.
Nobody is going to accuse Verizon of pushing the iP{hone.

I cannot WAIT for mine to arrive :D You can activate it totally through iTunes, right? No need to visit the store?

What is the best way to pre-order through Apple or Verizon?
Verizon’s site sucks so I think I may want to go through Apple’s site.
I’ve never activated a phone on my own. How easy is it to activate the iphone without assistance?

I’m not sure about where it’s easier to order, probably six to half dozen… about the same either way.
Activating the phone was pretty easy on my Droid (HTC) Incredible. I essentially took it out of the box, called the activation line and I was done. The harder part, if you want to call it that was setting up my preferences on the phone. But you’d have that with any new device.

Funny, I got my Droid X last summer delivered to my home, opened the box, *228, option 1, done, phone was activated.
It “should” be this easy with the iPhone, but who knows, we’ll see once they start getting delivered.
